It's in the eye of the beholder. There are plenty of guys at Delta that would sell scope and a lot of other QOL items just to get their pensions back. A vocal minority few have said that will be their plan if ALPA doesn't seriously attempt to address this issue in 2019.

It's funny you mention that because those screaming the loudest don't have the balls to do this yet they were actively telling new hires they should bail and jump to FDX or UPS for the sole purpose of an A plan.

I was on one of your Jumpseat's and the CA was on a rant about this new company I had heard very little about. He said he used his entire savings and taken out equity on his home to invest in this company. He was all in. The whole flight he was trying to convince the FO and me to invest. I was thinking "this guy is going to be living on the street."
Company: Tesla
He may not work there anymore.

Tales of those "wish I had bought!" investments have lured many pilots into "what was I thinking of?" investments. Years ago, it was questionable tax shelters, then multi-level marketing, then the dot-coms....

Or hell, even the recent one MLM called "Zeek Rewards" or Zeeker. I had several pilots try to recruit hard for that one. Some things just didn't add up on that. They profit if I join, I have to select an entry level amount of 100, 1000, or 10000, and then pay a monthly fee for a "maintenance account fee." And all I had to do was put one advertisement online on a forum, website, for Zeek bidding. That was the marketing technique. I had many questions, but one question no could answer: why does this investment just assume that people will re-sign up when their free bids run out? I understand my 1,000 dollars buys 1,000 free bids for customers. But you can't guarantee me that they will use a credit card and sign up after those free bids are gone. I never got an answer on that.
In the end, the SEC shut them down for being a multi-million dollar ponzi scheme. To be fair, it had all the earmarks for one. Didn't pass the sniff test, so I passed on it.
