I agree 100%. The CRJ AA contract is going to expire soon, the odds of it being extended/renewed are slim to none. There is a reason why XJT has not "found a home" for the excess -700s it has.
UAL extended the ERJ until 2022. By 2022 the overwhelming majority of seniority list will consist of top of scale CAs and FOs all with longevity of greater than 10 years. Additionally, the fleet will 100% consist of older, 50 seat ERJs...if the E175 was coming it would have already happened.
If you can make it until 2022, then stay, if you need to remain employed past 2022 you need to seek another job immediately. I hate what has happened to this carrier and it's employee groups, but the writing is on the wall: There is no good news coming. Leave as soon as you can.

It really sucks.
And somehow the real crap regionals have managed to staff. It’s not like the crap places are canceling flights. They made it through the ‘shortage’ just fine.
And they are taking flying away from all the decent places.
At least some regionals have a real flow through. I have no idea how the ones with only a guaranteed interview are staffing, but they are.
It sucks. Go anywhere and get an Airbus or 737 type. Maybe if that place isn’t a career destination, it will provide the experience for a place that is.
Don’t waste more time (unless you are very close to retirement.). Bail.
You will be glad you did.

The longevity of those left is important.
The only ones left at ASA (and many on XJT side) have very high seniority compared to most regionals-and correspondingly high costs.
This is why those planes haven’t gotten placed. People like Kirby don’t give a tinker’s damn about experience or loyalty-especially at a regional. They want that metal in the air at the lowest price.
The cost of a 30 year capt vs a 3 year captain is significant-and creates perhaps the most important disadvantage for any regional.
Good regionals al aye run into this problem. If a place is (was) good enough that a bunch of folks chose to stay, their seniority list will become much more expensive that the crap operations.
Happens to ACA, Comair, and now ASA. It will happen to every regional eventually. It’s a life cycle.

I’m as pessimistic as the next day but there is no way another airline could take on all the ERJs and train crews to fly them by the end of the year. Not even enough sims running 24/7 to probably do that. Look what happened when Commute Air tried to take on just a fraction of them.

You wonder why? It’s not rocket science. If Skywest would’ve added airplanes, and hired say, 500 new pilots. The percentage of senior pilots gets smaller. The only reason ExpressJet is shrinking is because Skywest gets those gullible_______ to do it cheaper

You totally missed my point. United gave Air Whisky 40 planes because they need the flying done despite how senior/expensive they are. There is no way XJT is as expensive as most other regionals.

Yeah, but Air Whiskey is privately held so they can do things a public company can’t. If a publicly held company doesn’t make a ROI comparable to competitors money leaves. Owners of privately held companies, while having a profit incentive, may have other incentives as well.

If you read their forums, upgrades are going to new hires. Crazy.
