And what about the ASA 700/900s? Those are the most viable aircraft.
I was just saying what will leave... All the rest will stay as long as the "rate reset" doesn't have a bigger efect then projected.. But the xjt of 5 years from now will be made up of ASA 700/900's some 200's and the 145xr's....

The company looks to be willing to extend the existing ASA contract with no concessions but no huge improvements to both pilot groups. Short of the E145 side taking the contract as is at the end of the month (wont happen)... it is my belief that they will be sold off to United main line, or simply.. the contracts that they fly will not be re-bid. By this time next year, Express jet should be almost totally out of the E145 business, and begin rebuilding with new contracts in the E175's.. Likely, they will not be as large as they are now ever again.

Really? Nearly everyone in my class of 22 has it though. Last I heard the last couple of guys were finishing up IOE.

Apologies, but this whole "I heard Mesa can't staff and all of their new hires are failing etc" is on par with the line of "I have a friend at the FAA and only 9 CFI certificates were issued in 2013." Please.

The unfortunate news is that these bottom end carriers like Mesa, GoJet and PSA are having no problem staffing their airplanes. Don't believe me? Look at where the new flying is going, they will staff it and they won't have a problem. While Compass is a reputable carrier with an above average contract they will have ZERO issues staffing their 20 E175s. Too many pilots are willing to sell out and work under a dismal contract to "get PIC time" and move on, it is a simple fact. Everyone ragged G7 back in the day...they're still here, everyone has ragged PSA and they're still here...

I'm not saying it's right, nor would do I suggest new pilots apply and work for such carriers, but I'm just typing the reality of where we are these days. It's a sad reality.

As far as where XJT will be in 12 months, nobody knows. The greatest asset we have is our size. We are the 2nd largest Delta Connection carrier behind 9E and we are the largest UAX carrier by a long shot. That lift is still in demand, and while it can be shifted around and reduced as both mainline partners have expressed, to say that XJT will only have E145XRs or L-ASA will only have CR7/9 in twelve-eighteen months simply isn't the case. There isn't enough time between now and 2016 and there are WAY too many variables at work for this doomsday scenario to work itself out that quickly.

Are we going to be smaller in the next 5 years? Yes, I believe so, but is XJT going to be decimated and 1/3 of it's current size in the very near future? No, I think we can all agree on that. Let's do our best to move forward with a JCBA and see what we can work out.

So, when you say "nearly everyone in my class of 22 has it", are you talking about SJS?

You are missing the point... There always will be pilots with no values or respect to the profession. However, most of the regional industry compiled of pilots with values, who will never go work for mesa or gojets type airlines. The fact of life is, XJT/SKYW/Envoy/ RAH/ AW are almost 15k pilots that are not willing to sell the profession short... Mesa+GoJets+PSA are ~1900 all together. So yes, they may sustain minor growth. BUT, these pilots/airlines will never be a big part of the regional industry....

Anyway, to sum everything up. There always will be pilots suffering from SJS/ upgradiatis/ selfishness / lack of values/ lack of respect. Yet, they are the minority and always will stay that way.

P.S.

I know that I generalized a lot and some of PSA pilots tried to stand for the industry (by voting NO for their latest contract).
