I don't think UA would purposely terminate any CPAs with their 50 seater express carriers. UA already reached the cap on the amount of 76-seaters they may have (until 2016). After 2016, UA probably will gradually increase the amount of large RJs while reducing the 50-seaters. In any case, the reduction wont happen overnight, so it is fairly safe to say that XJT will stay in business until at least 2020 (definitely longer than the 3 years some of the CRJ guys claim in here)....
In any case, all I am saying is we should stop the "my regional is better than yours" arguments and work together toward stopping the whipsaw (just like we worked together to vote down the POS TA)!

Have had several trips with deadheads on Expressjet lately. If it isn't the most unreliable form of air travel with the least interested employees in the industry they are at the front of the pack. I am out on a four day trip and I can deal with the shenanigans of express jet. It is just the poor passengers that bought tickets with the idea they were going to get from point A to point B that I feel for. What an embarrassment.

I certainly hope UA can relieve themselves of the service of Expressjet, sooner rather than later.

They will plan to operate the flights with SkyWest Airlines, as they gradually transition out of UAL and DAL flying. L-XJT will continue to park airplanes, and UAL will shift that flying to larger airplanes flown by someone else. L-ASA will continue to shrink under its a/c retirement schedule with DAL. In about 3 years, L-XJT won't exist anymore, L-ASA will be half its size, and they will merge L-ASA with SkyWest.
Most realistic scenario I've read yet

It always makes me smile when mainline pilots complain about their regional feed.... Take all the flying back, problem solved!

P.S.

L-XJT will still exist in 3 years... Many of the UA CPAs don't expire before 2020.... Who cares that UA is unhappy? When you cook a meal with expired ingredients (because they were cheaper), later don't complain that you have a diarrhea!!

Like I previously said, they can try but it's up to a arbitrator or judge to decide, not Inc. And also notice this was mainline wining this case against Mesa. Not a regional winning it's case against a major. So if UAL wants Inc to abide by the CPA they both negotiated, then I would put my money on mainline winning that battle.

If there were a like button for this, I would be pressing it.

Ual isn't doing much better on their own….maybe you should be focusing on that captain.

You've barely figured all this out! Where have you been this last decade? I also hope your airline relieves all outsourced flying sooner rather than later. I can't believe you guys let your passenger customers have their flying outsourced! What's wrong with you guys?

ExpressJet is no gem, but mainline United certainly isn't at the top of the pack. Unless you're talking about delayed flights and customer complaints. United is a mess as whole and trying to blame it on regional feed is absurd. How about y'all get your house in order before you start casting shade on other carriers.

Also, Inc. is not interested in ridding itself of flying for Delta or United so whoever cast this scenario is mistaken. They don't have all those aircraft on order/options for no reason and they aren't all for AA. In fact, none of them are at this time. They will continue to be the largest regional carrier for DL/UA for many years to come. That's what their business model is predicated on. market share.
