It does not. A new upgrade can't directly displace someone out of their position. However, there are displacements posted for ATL 200 Captains on an overall neutral position notice. It is possible that senior FOs deciding to upgrade this time to vacant positions elsewhere in the system might create a situation where the most junior Captains get bumped back to FO.

Supposedly there is going to be a position notice every other month now for upgrades and base changing. I wouldn't worry too much about seat locks in 700 etc seems like they lift the locks a lot
Thanks a lot for the response....

I kind of expect it to be a long commute for me to anywhere I go....

Just trying to see if there is anything that saves me the coast to coast commute or any particular Junior base which is easy commute....

How are DFW or IAH ?? Is either achievable right out of training....

Yes, depending on the month.

Some of the union peeps say the company is ready to deal on a contract that is an improvement, but the Legacy XJT reps are too scared to act and still don't want PBS. Sounds like Déjà Vu all over again. Houston we have a problem.

Nonsense SH, you go back to your cave and stop trying your divisional tactics. 83% say that it doesn't work. I swear there has to be some screening on here so management isn't allowed to post.

They need FO's and not enough captains are leaving or will leave to justify upgrades in mass (maybe a handfull, under ten or so every three months). They will simply shrink to fit.

Eventually we will get on with the majors with tens of thousands of sic hours. By that time, all those who went to TSA/Compass/Mesa/gojets will have upgraded, got pic turbine and advanced to a major well before we were ever looked at. I'm not saying this just to flame. I feel it is just the way some things work. Timing and luck have much to do with this. I tell people this sincerely; never work for a regional, get a different gig when you are young, corporate, mil, etc. Bypass the nightmare. Honestly i think the new FO's will simply go where the upgrade is. Even though the contracts suck at the carriers upgrading, they will be captains so quickly that they will still make more money flying in the left seat then they would flying the right seat at any other regional bar none. It's a tough hiring situation, but SJS is alive and well, it always seems to prevail.
I agree and disagree with the post and your previous one. We have been feed the BS that delta is going to hire hundreds of pilots this year, and the year before that, and the year before that. It never comes. At least not at the pace we wish it would. Like you said, there are too many others that they favor first before us. However, there are other airlines in the world besides delta. There have been quite a few people that I have flown with in the past that have left. United, Airways, 'Merican, Jetblue and spirit. not to mention the guys that leave for other reasons. Corporate jobs, ATC, or others jobs. FOs are also leaving, so that will help the situation. Not disagreeing that Delta hiring would help our situation of course. So just because Delta isn't hiring our guys at a fast pace, doesn't mean we are all doomed to a life of limbo as perpetual FOs at ASA.

That being said, there is shrinking going on which is offsetting the need for more upgrades. And there is more shrinking forecasted in the future. Nor do they have the FOs to upgrade to Captains. I'm hearing a lot of new guys are leaving for various reasons. Chasing upgrades and such. I am skeptical of all the gloom and doom talk from management because of the ongoing negotiations. Maybe the lack of upgrading is a tactic? Maybe, but who knows. They are already between a rock and a hard place because they are getting **** from the mainline partners because our performance blows. So they don't have much wiggle room there. And every regional has voted down their TAs, so we have taken their leverage there too. And they want more flying and airplanes. Can't do that with their current situation. The faster we get a TA and get a merged list, the faster we upgrade. Not at the cost of a **** TA of course. Its just the beginning of this wave, I am sure it will only get better as time goes on. Look at the numbers and you will see we are just scratching the surface. I agree that our upgrade times are and will remain ridiculous. If you feel it necessary to leave to get some PIC, then do it.

Actually, the ASA MEC just confirmed this information on the live chat this morning on FB. Why are we making the same mistakes again?
