ExpressJet. Everybody has issues. RAH has more of them.

I agree, but most of the 15+ I've talked to here don't believe the regional model is dead, and think this place has a bright future. Seriously.

XJT has issues, but at least we make bank. Average CAs make 80-90K average FO 35-45K. RAH's contract sucks. No block or better pay, no cancellation pay, no soft time. But the DO get to fly REAL airplanes WITH ENGINES UNDER THE WINGS! Priorities I guess.

United and Delta will be parking 300 or so large RJs by end of 2015! EXJ operates the vast majority of them, United has outsourced over half the large RJ they can put on the line before they have to add a NB fleet and Delta only has 30 more large RJs to be awarded. Not flaming as I work at a carrier with mainly 50 seaters but the future of EXJ isn't looking as bright as some might led you to believe. Attrition is high so that's a good thing.

I know. But most of our "lifers" seem to think the cuts won't get to them before they retire. We're talking guys in their 40s-50s with 15-25 years in. I guess they never heard of Comair. I give this place 5 years before they start displacing 10-15 year CAs to the right seat, then rapidly downhill from there.

Depends what your goals are. If your goal is to be an regional FO for the next 5+ years and gain copious amounts of TSIC time making 45k tops for the foreseeable future by all means come to XJT. We are losing 19 CRJs this year and more to come in the next couple years. E175s will like arrive in exchange for double the amount of ERJs. The CRJ side has about 1000 Captains and I estimate 800 are lifers.

If your goal is career progression and/or logging TPIC sometime this decade RAH is the better option. Over 50+ Q400s and E175s worth of growth still on the way. Contract may be worse but within 5 years you'll be a Captain making a way more than 45k. Worse work rules also means 80% of Captains aren't staying.

If you're really ambitious about career progression Compass & Mesa will have lighting fast upgrades for those hired in the next several months. Good luck!

Long upgrade at RAH too. 2 buddies are FOs at 6 years+... One on the 170 and the other on the 145
