ATL Base Chief Pilot gets hired away. Rest of CRJ CA list still struggling for attrition. ERJ Attrition thru the roof as usual

I've come to the conclusion that a very small percentage of our captains actually have apps in at other airlines.. How else would the attrition numbers be so different?

This is funny. Finally someone gets it. That's the way it is supposed to be at a regional. So you leave. No one is SUPPOSED to stick around.

The actually money earned minus what you have to pay back as an investment just to have the job and uniforms, eating expensive food in airports, hotels for commuting and the sheer fact that your life will probably be substantially shortened from exposure to a regional culture should make it common knowledge that your stay at this level should be limited. How was that for a run-on sentence?

The instructor asked that question in training last month. All of the fo's raised their hands along with one captain.

Hell, No. I'm still paying 16 years later for my ERAU education. So, am I gonna die one day, you betcha but not from flying a regional jet I can guarantee you that.

Now if I worked at FedEx, UPS or even was an international driver then yes you're gonna die younger from that job. Just look at those guys! They can have it and the money that comes along with it. So the secret is out, this is the easiest job in the world and if you look at it right its also enjoyable.

You guys are always looking for something more and when you have it your still not happy. You would be crying on CAL Forums if it wasn't your still stuck down here at the minors. FUPM!
There are pros and cons to just about everything and that includes flying an RJ.

Not sure, his email says stop by and say hi before he leaves so that's the best way to find out. I'm sure he saw the writing on the wall here at XJT.

It's a little different for Captains making around $100K/yr. Hence less of them planning to leave.

I get the same response from many captains on the line. Bewildering considering the state of this place and the trend of other regionals.
