Do you HONESTLY believe pilot compensation is going to be the deciding factor? Not the duplicate sets of management, not the inefficiency of the scheduling department, not the millions spent on AceyDays, focus groups, and web page overhauls? You're that ready to take concessions to "save the company" before management makes any effort to reform their side of the house? You would be a fool, because your money will be wasted and the company will still go out of business. I have news for you: the way this place is being run right now, no amount of concessions will save it. Even on a Pinnacle contract, this company would be losing money.

Not to drive off-topic, but I have been offered a class date and want to find out if something the recruiters said was true. One of the recruiters explicitly said that XJT pilots get a "preferred interview" with Delta...comments?

One of my interview questions was, "what would your Chief Pilot say about you?"
I said, "I saw him right down the hall, we could ask him." They laughed and said, "we already have, but we wanted to hear what you would say."
BTW - The Thunderpig was the F105. Capt Tutt flew F4's along side them in Vietnam. Don't know if he flew the F105, but many in his squadron did. If you see him, ask.

Oh no they are up to this game again. I was talking to a new guy on reserve something like a year ago. He was convinced that upgrades were 2 years or something ridiculous like that. The hiring department was feeding this crap to interviewed guys.
Why even interview. Just set them up with class date and send them on their way. Save a little of everyone's time.

35% of Delta's new hires will come from DCI and the usual number is higher than that. ASA's (yeah, old school) Chief Pilots are uber well connected at Delta, Charlie Tutt & Fred Lambert in particular. When Delta was hiring in 2007 Capt. Tutt was eating lunch with his former Delta co-workers at least once a week.

Oh Christ, another reason not to go to DELTA. Lets step off our high horse of hot rodding a rocket around the sky saying you saved our country. I hear this stuff every time I get stuck on the JS. Trust me, it gets old real quick. Keep the ruler in the closest and just do your job. I see more errors on DELTA than I do any other means of transportation home. Just an observation, as I'm turning down the volume of retired military pilots' jargon regarding the thrill behind (insert airplane) (insert war/night mission...no one cares) b/s.

I actually like hearing those type of stories. On the other hand, use every opportunity to network (if they are friendly) so that you can get out of the regional rat race.
