voting yes to dual qual reduces required total number of pilots across the system. That is going to reduce number of pilots the company needs to hire to replace people leaving for better places and to adjust to new fd/dt. It is in most pilots' interest to vote no on dual qual, as it will slow down your progress up the seniority list.
*unless of course the company offers something mind blowingly good in exchange of it. Which probably won't happen.

Oh brotha
Shouldn't this be info you would want to know BEFORE you accept the job? This is how I know there is no immediate threat of a pilot shortage. People work their butts off to get qualified for the job and just accept it. That was all fine in the past when your chances of making it to the top were pretty good. Now the top is more of a little carrot with gold colored paint dangled out in front of you.
What's to keep ATL CRJ from going double occupancy if no one cares and just takes the job?

You will be eaten alive by the bed bugs in IAH.... No taxable income, and buy your own uniform. Make sure you bring 3 Jepp binders with you. They try to make money from you there.

What a joke. In the year 2013, at one of the premier regional jet operations, we expect grown adults to shack up? Are we really doing this? Are we really that broke that we can't spring for everyone to have their own room? Disgraceful. Yet one more reason nobody needs to apply here. Here's your sign...

Pilots have a terrible reputation for cutting their own throats. The company is counting on the majority -200 pilots voting themselves a raise without realizing the consequences. Think about this long and hard! Right now we have the company over a barrel because they can NOT meet staffing needs come January. This is their solution. And just like PBS did, it will greatly increase stagnation and time spent on reserve.

I think, in this case, "Premier" tends to assume regional jet operators are being compared against each other, and the "Premier" operators would be those at the higher end of the gene pool. I think he probably got it right.
