What's the Latest at ASA/Expressjet?

Under the L-ASA (CRJ) contract, reserves can't pick up flying on a day off because you're already down to minimum days off. You can however have a soft-day (non-golden day) taken away and replaced later in the month. I didn't receive the email, but maybe they meant reserves could volunteer to have their day off taken away and replaced? Not sure what kind of incentive they could offer though, other than normal credit. IMO, the only time it's poor form to volunteer for flying is when people are furloughed or threatened with furlough.

Just got this e-mail from a punctuationally-challenged crew scheduler:
"Coverage is very bad for CRJ CA's in ALL domiciles if you are off today and would like to do some additional flying please contact crew scheduling even if you are a reserve pilot we are also allowing you to pick up as well. "
...but we're not short staffed. We just had more than the expected number sick calls, right?

Won't fix the problem. ATL on both sides is f'd. On a side note... FOs who can only hold a class 2 medical, their last day is August 1st. Right??
(Not so serious) So is management throwing a going away party? Or since we can't afford popcorn... that is a no.?

Summer 2013 so far-
Any excuse to declare SWAP/IROP, scheduling belligerence with reserves (adjusting duty times, illegal assignments), not enough pilots to cover scheduled flying (July ATL CR2), hours to get hotel information during cancelations, and operational updates telling crew members to not contact crew scheduling.
Yet leadership is more concerned with Acey days, aceypalooza, people programs, suggestions on the IT platform, Star Bucks scratch off and "focus groups" (cherry picked suck-ups) than improving the front line operation.
With the quarter to date performance numbers looking like they fell off a cliff and near record open time for July, how soon until the email comes out blaming everyone and everything except where it belongs for the "challenges" this summer?

No, I don't know everything about your reserve rules. Looks like someone already answered though. Anyway, I hope your MEC reminded management of the contract language prohibiting reserves picking up on days off. Although I'm sure pilots will take the solicited bubba deals. We are our own worst enemies.
