Go to a non union airline if you don't like it. Nobody is stopping you.

Just got this e-mail from a punctuationally-challenged crew scheduler:

"Coverage is very bad for CRJ CA's in ALL domiciles if you are off today and would like to do some additional flying please contact crew scheduling even if you are a reserve pilot we are also allowing you to pick up as well. "

...but we're not short staffed. We just had more than the expected number sick calls, right?

Your reserves are contractually allowed to pick up?

Here's an MOU idea, train the top 1/3 of FOs as Lance Captains and use them when you need them.

How can the Company be short of Captains when you have hundreds of FOs ready to build some PIC experience.

When I was at XE in 2007 reserves were allowed to pick up. But that was on reserve days and not days off. So maybe we are talking about different things.

Trying to gain some 121 etiquette... Is it poor form to pick up a trip when on reserve? On a day off?

Why? You get so little days off anyway on reserve, why waste another day?
