Nah man. With exception to SH, I don't think they melt down. They show up Monday morning and go home early Friday afternoon. Pilots seem to think management actually takes them seriously. This isn't the case. Pilots are just numbers who put out numbers in their equation. The only thing that really matters to them is that we don't crash. They don't make decision for the betterment of the pilot group......EVER.... They will not do something for us unless they see the numbers turning bad for them if they don't. CT will simply say oh well I guess that's the way it is this summer and go up to lke lanier for his vaca while the place melts down. It doesn't bother them, it's just business (although they aren't very good at it, they certainly aren't the worse).
The people who melt down are the pilot groups. We simply don't understand that how management can be so stupid running it so lean and crushing us and our personal relationships. I personally believe that extensions are always optional. A couple of summers ago I didn't accept a couple. I told them I would gladly accept my suspension because my girlfriend would really like me to have a weekend off. Nothing ever happened as a result. It's all a game to management. They stretch the contract to the best of their abilities, they stretch the pilot groups and work against us because they can. This is how it will always be at asa/xjt. It's all about costs. The risks involved in running a lean group are acceptable to them. It doesn't bother them when occasionally they misfire because in the end the number crunchers think it will work. Trying to convince them otherwise it futile.

Excellent post Kangaroo. You almost made tony and saab hug it out.
I am done doing favors for an incompetent scheduling department and a heartless management. I silenced their number but it vibrates everytime they leave a voicemail on the drive home. It is one of the more satisfying things about this job.
