Snap.

Upgrade time does matter to those who want to go to a place that requires turbine PIC. Wanna know what the projected upgrade for someone with my DOH is at Xjet? 10 years! Changes your perspective a little bit when you look at it like that. So tell me, people: If this place goes t*ts up in a year or shows no hope of movement, and you have very good connections at the place you want to end up, and all that's holding you back is 1000TPIC, you wouldn't entertain the thought of a lateral move to a place where you could get that required time in less than 10 years?! LOL

I agree with you. My only gripe with a lateral move is you could end up in the same situation, if not worse with another regional. Plus, things could always turn around. This industry is so hard to predict and is full of "shoulda, coulda, wouldas."

So you DID know that. Spud.

Why was I mentioned there? When I was hired, upgrade was 2.5 years at ASA. Didn't really expect that but never though I'd be in the right seat this long...

Upgrading isn't just all about just earning PIC time. At a regional airline in the right seat you aren't even looked upon as a real pilot. You are just an annoying apprentice to most trying to earn his keep. And most regional CBA's reflect that. Pay scales aren't designed for one to live off of. After 6+ years with a company and most likely 10+ into your career you need to start being able to pay your investment back and take a break from pre flights, post flights and those damn hotel key card responsibilities that are apparently in some company policy booklet that I have yet to see. There comes a time when you have paid your dues and you are ready for the next challenge.

This is a generic statement but many could agree with this. There's still that entitlement generation that always feels as if they DESERVE something without doing the work. But 8-10 years in the right seat at a regional airline is way too long. I don't care if the guys at Comair were doing it. It's still not right.

I knew what they told me and I suspected it would change. I also know that anyone that gets into this business for the money got into it for the wrong reason. I got into it to fly airplanes, the money followed.

I don't know about all that but what I'm sick of is some of the D-Bag CA's. Nothing's worse than them setting a crap tone in the cockpit for 4 days and you having to endure. What use to be a grind through has become a push back. I'm hearing this is common with FO's who've been stuck in right seat for more than a typical regional span. If anything, I'd like the left seat just to relax a little and allow everyone to do their job. Controlling is a bad attribute!!

Anyone can agree to disagree but either way, I don't care what you think.

Rant over.
