Yeah, it's a little weird for sure, but in actuality it doesn't affect the senior guys since the only thing you get assigned are pairings that don't get picked up by anyone else. If a 4 day or two filter through the people above you and are enough to complete your schedule, you get the benefit of having a couple weeks off without worrying about scheduling tracking you down or moving your days off.
The only way that it does affect the senior folks is that when you don't get a reserve line you can pick up and swap trips, etc. That could be adjusted though. Keep the benefit of not being on reserve when on vacation, but not be able to pick up extra open time, etc.
I dunno. I think overall PBS has been a huge improvement for us. I get why the ERJ guys don't like it. They had a sweet deal that eventually will go away. Get your time, and get out. Everyone will be hiring like gangbusters in a year or two.

Per tonight's Jetstream CRJ classes continue, and another position notice likely to come in the 1st quarter. ERJ will be offered monthly leave of absences starting in January and likely to last at least through the 2nd quarter.
Sorry buddy but you are way off on the erj side. Upgrading and hiring on the erj side is going to happen in the next 2-3 months. They dont take ground instructors off of furlough to have them sit around. Anything could happen to derail that but as of right now they are planning on running classes. Our attrition is double that of the crj side and they are expecting a higher ratio of erj pilots to leave when hiring starts at UAL.
If you are trying to be an internet tough guy who "knows whats going on" then you are going to be constantly disappointed. No one knows and the longer you do this the less you care. I was just stating facts to a potential new hire instead of "my buddy in management said..." ... management is a bunch of dopes who will say different things depending on who they are talking to. A little humility will go a long way.

So I take that as a "no" on the bet.
I'll tell you what boy, mark this page and we shall see. If you look at past posts I would say I am correct 96%, at least, of the time.
As for humility, I think you and your boys should look in the mirror. Also, I would recommend getting the blinders off and look at the road. When things actually take place it means that they where in the works for a long time.
Good luck over the next several months. You're gonna need it!

All of the new hires got their assignments today. All bases where available, except the ATL 700. I got ATL 200 so no more commuting for me. 44 FO positions are still vacant according to what we were sent.

Funny, you guys talk about lucky line holders and such. At L-XJT we have a similar scenario that arises after lines are awarded. When our Line Improvement window opens, and you are flying and/or didn't click submit within 90 seconds of it opening, regardless of seniority, your pretty much stuck with your line. So essentially, someone that is 100 numbers junior, could have a better line with more days off etc. On top of that, we recently found out someone in our company created a computer program to submit multiple trades within nano seconds of the window opening. So, your lucky line holders at least are a result of the system, and not fraudulent computer programs. IMO, the only honest good thing we got going, is our vacation and our reserve sounds a tad better. Im very open minded about PBS recently.
I think we can all agree that our vacation is, hands down, one of the best parts of either contract. But you can kiss that goodbye with any new PBS (that includes vacation low guys).
