Lying about hiring hundreds next year is one.
I do completely agree Skywest needs to throw us a bone here. Something needs to happen period in the positive direction for morale.
What part of wanting to hire hundreds next year is a lie? We will lose hundreds most likely in 2016 and with a static fleet plan and not able to staff that will nit be pretty.
My point is he wasn't lying when he mentioned wanting to hire hundreds.

He said the extension is done, its not. Still waiting on the scope piece. Once again, the Company holding things up. He blames the Unions. He's a liar. He speaks out 4 sides of his mouth at any given time. He never ****, if he starts talking, you never get him to stop. He sometimes contradicts himself in the same run on sentence.

Take a deep breathe and relax. He is management. He is no longer labor. And as to The Company? The Company includes St George. IMO I would say that is where the delay is.

Increasing first year pay will help tremendously. If we don't attract candidates from today forward we will not see any movement period in seniority - that's fact just by figuring numbers.

If you compare with other regionals on upgrade time, growth, first year pay, bonuses, career progression, you'll see that we have NONE of those. Increasing first year pay will not bring pilots here that weren't already wanting to come here. The biggest factor in recruiting is upgrade time/growth. If you kept first year pay as is but decreased upgrade time to 2 years, that would bring in more new hires than increasing first year pay to $40/HR and keeping our 8 year upgrade, no growth, no bonus, no career progression.

Though I see your point, I feel like you are viewing this problem through the wrong lens. You see it as a veteran 121/XJT pilot. I think most 21-23 year old kids aren't informed enough on the other stuff and simply go to the pay scale. If you think most young pilots to this game understand scope or can see far enough down the road to think about retirement, I think that's a miscalculation.
I don't think I said anything about scope and retirement, although that is important. I'm simply taking about upgrade time. New hires have been looking at that for at least 15 years. Could that with the bonuses and career progression that recruiters dangle in front of prospective new hires, there is no reason why having industry leading first year pay alone will attract pilots that weren't already considering this place to begin with.
