What's the Latest at ASA/Expressjet?
The "doom and gloom" isn't just me. Look around next time you're at work. Who is super stoked to be at EXPRESSJET? At some point you gotta pull the cord and reboot your career. Sucks I waited so many years before pulling my head out of the delusion that infects most 20-30's year old pilots at ASA who haven't seen the writing on the wall. Sure everyone has their own reasons for staying and for some it makes sense. But in my case I don't have "friends in high places" to help progress my career. So it was a matter of overcoming the fear of giving up something I knew and had gotten "comfortable" in. Throwing away my seniority and QOL goes against everything were taught but I believe I'm in a better place now. A place where my career will flourish and I can re-invigorate my mind by going through intensive training again.
Wish my former colleagues at surejet the best in the future, but I'm not holding my breath that good things will come your way.
TL;DR: I'm glad I quit, went to another regional, and I look forward to all your hate mail!

I made a lateral move to another regional.

I thought we were supposed to hear something from ALPA today. Did I miss it?

The meeting happened today. The MEC met with Terry, Chip, and some other members of management. They'll go over the proposal and then send it to the pilots for a vote if they deem it worthy. No timetable for when they'll give the pilots notice.

If there are no plans for the future than why vote no? If there are no plans for the future and we vote no things will be the same (more shrinking and same pay) but if we vote yes we get at least something a little better until the end.
You could look at a no vote as getting it over with faster allowing everybody to finally realize it is over. 😁

I don't think you guys really understand what 'close up shop' really means. It means 4000 pilots are unemployed and starting over. Are you REALLY prepared for that? If so, why are you still here complaining? This place has provided a great deal of opportunity for many, as well as a good living for others. Is it as good as it can be? No. Is it as bad as it can be? No. Work to make it better or move on, but please, enough with the idiotic dissension and emotional, reactionary diatribes.
