Default ExpressJet coming back?

All -

Help me out with some -121 terms here to start out this thread. What exactly is meant by "branded" flying? Does that mean flying routes under your own name vice as a contract carrier - or whatever the proper term is?
I'm flying back from OK in Dec and the ticket says it is on Continential (operated by ExpressJet).
Now that I fly back and forth from Fresno to San Diego and from Ontario to Oklahoma quite often - I sure would like to see the return of ExpressJet as they had direct flights. The few times I flew them before I had great experiences (see previous posts).
So....with oil below $50/gal - any chance of seeing those routes start up again?

The "Branded" term just meant it was flying under the ExpressJet brand rather than the Continental Express brand or the Delta Connection brand.

Thanks Nevets - I figured that was it but I wasn't sure. So....have an opinion as to whether they will start branded flying again since oil has dropped - or did they do some business deal when they stopped branded flying and lose (or sold) those routes?

No, the current CPA with CAL eliminated any chance of having the profits to cover the losses XJT Branded was taking.

It could happen, but right now we just have to get through our current financial situation. Even if fuel keeps dropping, we really can't afford to take that type of risk on. The sad thing is, we probably wouldn't of had to shut it down if fuel stayed where it currently is. The shutdown of Branded was announced with fuel at $140/barrel and then oil immediately started dropping. Oh, the irony.

The only I could see it return anytime soon is if we get some sort of financing from an outside investor.

Before I become an FA with Mesa, I worked with XJT as ramp and gate agent out of TYS. They started furloughing so I had to make a decision really fast. I have to say that I wish XJT the best of luck. It was a great airline to work for. They were like family to me. Very professional people to work for.
