Allow me to take that a step farther. Most people don’t consider a regional airline a career move to begin with but rather a means to an end. If option A offers you an easier life, quicker upgrade etc in order to get to the end state goal, you take it. Sure, our regional airlines get discussed from time to time in the cockpit when reminiscing (and laughing about the good times), but I’ve never thought less of the guy sitting next to me because the airline they hired on with after college was considered a “scum bucket” carrier (hell, many people wear that as a badge of honor now). That being said, I’m damn proud (and was lucky) to have worked for COEX in my early 20’s. Upgraded at 23 on the 120 and two years later found myself in the ERJ left seat flying all over the map (as long as your map is folded such as to only reveal Mexico and the eastern half of the U.S.). Good people during the late 90’s early 2000’s that I’ll never forget (probably because I find myself flying with them to this day in larger cockpits). All the best to you fine folks. You were the good guys/gals

if you have a choice, you need to be picky on what Regional to choose to work at. They are not all the same and what many people just found out in the last 6 months is that if you choose wrongly, you could see yourself out on the street. Also, those still lucky enough to have a Regional job right now will be stuck where they are at for a few more years then originally planned.
Choose your Regional like you could be stuck there for life, but still try hard to move on. That is the best advice one can give.

Not really, it was horrible advice. It is a very lazy and altruistic advice to give from those who have "moved on" to give to those just starting out (and so tone deaf as to give in a thread full of pilots about to be out of a job).

Yep. Get The one you can get whatever you need out of it quickly and move on. Because preferential interviews, flow, even the continued existence of the major CBA and the major itself is all written in smoke.

not to mention......things change. The “place to be” when I was trying to start at a regional was Comair, then Air Wisconsin, and then possibly ExpressJet. Time has a way of changing things.

I’ve only ever met 1 Skywest pilot with a “better than you” attitude, but I’ve met dozens and dozens with an “I’m the coolest and these sunglasses and hat are going on instagram” attitude.
