Revenue standbys can and most likely are pax who missed the flight they were going on originally and got rolled over. They can also be pax who want to travel earlier than their original flight as well.

When non-reving, you're not in control. A BUNCH of unlisted A12's showed up at the gate, as well as some "revenue-standby's" whatever that is. Everything looked GREAT 24 hours prior and really even 12 hours. I have no idea where the 6 FA going to training came from, how the revenue standby's magically appeared, but we ran out of options very quickly.

The wife ended up buying an allegiant ticket. I'm paying for that in more ways than one.
Uggh, been there. After 3 attempts to get on an American flight failed. Had to buy my wife and daughter a ticket on spirit day after Christmas a few years ago out of ord. Problem was, they took a snow delay, taxied out, new delay, guy keeps getting up to use bathroom and starts an argument with a flight attendant when told to sit down. Plane returned to gate and ultimately cancelled. Wife and daughter stayed in Chicago that night, and worse, at her mother's house.

Probably OO pilots flying the same QX tails we’ve been seeing over at E.

Sometimes. Luck is mostly the determining factor because you will always have people miss flights as long as an airline is in existence.
My secret to most likely success is listing on kick off flights. Even if you don’t get a seat, you roll ahead of the next unlucky group of nonrevs.

Amen to that. I always chuckle when people complain about not getting on flights and the conversation that follows goes something like this...

Me: What flight did you list for?
Them: 10:30AM on a holiday weekend.

There is a limit but I’m not sure the cutoff. First try putting the year in when inputting the the date, i.e. 11MAY18. If that doesn’t work, you can look at your sequences for any month by going through your activity sheets in ePays.

If I’m trying to drop a turn tomorrow what’s my best bet, calling the next day desk now. Or calling CS(or Swaps n drops) in the morning?

Call the daily desk a few minutes (some say ten) after it opens and roll the dice.
