Buddy pass for a domestic flight last December I gave to my sister was $60 one way, this year it’s $80, quite an increase. Was there some point in the past before I came to the airlines that the buddy passes weren’t semi-worthless? I can hardly give these things away when you can get a guaranteed seat on a ULCC for not much more.

D3 passes are worthless for any type of domestic travel. They are a slight advantage if you're flying to an international destination.

Yeah they really are. I just tell friends to spend the extra $20 for a cheap ticket and enjoy a guaranteed seat. Not worth the time or effort to use the buddy pass.
