Yeah I got asked about it in DFW last week. I just shrugged and told her I flew my next trip FFD. Then we had 30 seconds where we both stared at each other like we had dicks growing out of our heads. Finally she asked if I wanted her to clear the sick call. It was weird. Not duct tape, sea monkey, and Kerry Gold butter weird, but I think we’re letting them flex on us a bit too hard in the CPO’s office.
Re-read RW's apology letter. He apologized for the tone of the message, not the intent behind it. The message was clear that they don't plan to change anything.

I can only hope our union is starting a paper trail to bring this to the FAA's attention. Pilots flying sick because they are afraid of being fired, probation or not, is a big deal. The same thing goes for the captain add situation regarding fuel. It's clear that the company wants pilots to fly sick and with no fuel. How does the FAA think this is ok?!

Nothing unprofessional about reiterating that we self clear, you can be firm and not a dick at the same time. Her resulting silence indicates that she’s used to capitulation. The people in the office are not your friends. Part of the reason they hire elderly ladies is to play in your sympathetic mom/grandma feelings. They’re still asking you for details that they don’t have any right to know and you don’t owe them. They may not know that, but those that push the policy certainly do. It’s another way to trick and socialize new hires that don’t know any better. Just like the fuel BS if we examine it closely they’re creating an atmosphere of fear. $$$>Safety

So when are you running? Or are you just another short timer that whines about the union but doesn’t want to put any skin in the game?

It’s posts like this on public forums that caused the company to have the mindset they currently do on sick calls. A few years ago when they started blanket denying PO/PVDs people were posting on here that they were just going to bang in for time off they needed. The company read that and started intimidating people who call in sick often to try to combat their staffing problem. I don’t care what you do when you call in sick but it doesn’t need to be posted on a public forum.

True. You want action from the union? Organize or threaten to go public with information and magically the union appears with direction and information. They keep us plantation folk in line.
