Forgive my ignorance here guys... This hurts my brain.

TRAINING FREEZE

1. A pilot who voluntarily bids for and is awarded a permanent vacancy that requires upgraded training or training on a different equipment type will be subject to a fourteen (14) month training freeze, except that:

All turbojet Captains will be subject to a training freeze of twenty-four (24) months.

All new hire pilots will be subject to a training freeze of twelve (12) months.

A training freeze will commence fourteen (14) days prior to the day said pilot is scheduled to report for training for his new position. If a pilot is withheld from a position his training freeze will run concurrent with that of the junior pilot who enters training for the same vacancy.

Pilots subject to a training freeze will not be awarded a permanent vacancy for a different status, except as provided in paragraph J. 4.below. Pilots subject to a training freeze will not be precluded from bidding and being awarded a lateral bid status.

Waiver
Nothing herein will prevent the Company from canceling a pilot’s training freeze, provided such cancellation applies to all senior pilots who are in a training freeze in the same equipment.

So does this mean the company can’t break my new hire training freeze unless it’s offered to all senior pilots ahead of me.

So the way I understand this.. A new hire is under a 12 month training freeze on said equipment. However the company can break that feeds at anytime, but they have to offer the break for anyone and everyone else as well?

Also a new hire training freeze... does that mean I am frozen to the equipment I am trained on.

You are frozen to the equipment you are trained on as an FO. You can only switch equipment once you upgrade or are displaced.

What confuses me is the least part..

Or displaced, what does that mean? Does that mean the company can displace me to upgrade at there discretion, but have to unlock everyone senior to me.

Huh? No....You are really over thinking this. As an Fo, you are stuck in whatever equipment you are on. The only way you will see another type is if you upgrade or are displaced. Displaced means they involuntarily kick you out of your current base/seat/equipment assignment. There is no "unlocking everyone senior to you".

Got ya! I guess what was mind F$&cking my brain was the Waiver at the end.

Thanks guys, I appreciate the info! This is information overload and with the possibility of being displaced to upgrade in 5 days, I wanted to really read up on what they can and can’t do. I have been out of the 121 game for a few years and trying to catch back up.

Crediting 100 hrs is easy if you live in base.

175 DFW not a chance for ANYONE anymore. Maybe the next class will have some but more than likely they will have the ORD 175.

Upgrades will happen when ever you reach the FAA requirement. 14-16 months of line flying. Maybe a bit more.

When I get some more time I'll look at my pay stub and see exact numbers.
Great, thanks for the feedback!!!

So will there be another opportunity to change your bid after the initial wards to show your displacement preferences or will the company just start displacing?
