What's it say about QOL when they have to force FOs to upgrade?

So let me see if I understand this correctly. I'm holding off a bid or two to upgrade, due to needing specific time off in the future. I'm now pretty much being forced to put my bid in now? Otherwise it looks like I'll be forced to upgrade on the 175 because I don't see how they will fill 80 vacancies on that in ORD with enough people having 1,000 hours 121.

I would hope it's like a displacement where you can displace to hold whatever your seniority holds.

My only concern is if it's a displacement then that means there is a significant number of people who can't upgrade purely due to lack of the 1,000 121 time..so the more senior people will be the ones getting displaced into a CA position since they have the hours. When they were likely not bidding it for a certain reason. Maybe I'm not understanding it correctly though. Hard to grasp a displacement from FO to CA hah

I hear you. In the same boat myself. Hoping the next class has a lot of high time CAs to be.

Wow interesting times these are.

What would be the recommended path for a guy coming to class on Monday? West coast commuter, looking for dfw or ord. Don't care what airplane, more about QOL.

Seems like the consensus is go 145, as the 175 will stagnate for a while and have longer rsv time?

Just looking for some insider info to make a better decision next week.

Dfw e145 and ord e145 and crj is what you want. E145 flies in all domiciles crj supposedly shrinking. E175 in ord will be a toss up as to how ma y in dfw bid it which in turn would require to backfill the e175 in dfw.
Your best choice would be ord e175, dfw e175, crj ord, e145 dfw and ord. But depends on your qol needs.

I'm a west coast commuter as well. You don't want to get stuck with a LGA/MIA commute. Right now the 175 is in DFW and ORD, which are the furthest west bases.

It seems the 145 is the shrinking fleet. In a the next year, I could see the 145 moving east and shrinking down in ORD and DFW. I'd be trying to get the 175 to stay out west.

This is a possible overlooked side effect of this nonsense...Proffers to displace, and even bidding new equipment if far enough out from flow. No one displaced to CA will be seat locked, either, and any vacancy bid would be able to switch equipment (subject to the 30%). There is potential for a giant mess on the company's hands with this BS.

Does anyone know how likely new hires can get MIA base? And how do we get it...do we bid for a base when we get hired? Or airplane?

Thanks
