An LOA addresses that. You are pay protected for straight pay. If you want protection for the critical pay, you have the option of contacting CS and making yourself available for reassignment for a 4 hour period.

Same thing happened to me last month. I called crew scheduling said I was available as per the LOA, they didn't end up re-assigning me to anything.

Then emailed pay comp explaining what happened and that I had called crew scheduling as per the LOA. Pay comp then added premium pay on my HI1 for the critical coverage.

Pay comp isn't out ther to screw you, just email them when something happens and they usually fix it within a day or so. So far I've picked up on able 2-3k in errors this year alone.

Ever found any mistakes in your favor? Me neither.

I know someone that got paid OT critical coverage for an entire 4 day sequence even though they only tagged an OT turn on the front of a normal 4 day sequence. So it does happen but it's rare I agree.

100% of the time it's because crew scheduling has monekeyed with something and then not coded it correctly. You literally just have to check your HI3 and HI1 every time a change is made and make sure it's coded correctly and if not email pay comp right away. I usually keep some notes on my phone whenever a schedule change, misconnect, IOE displacement occurs with all the details as to what happened to remind me for when i email comp. also helps to email yourself a copy of your HI1 at the start of the month before any changes start occurring and then check it against the end of the month.

When I was a new hire I continued to receive training pay including the continuous per diem for two months after IOE. It didn't stop until I brought it to their attention. Does that count?

So in the LOA if I make my self available for a 4 hour block I have to be available within 30 minutes. So basically airport ready unless I sleep in the employee lot?

Chances are they will release you when you call to make yourself available.

Also if you're a commuter you're still entitled to a free hotel that doesn't count towards your 4 commuter hotels either side or during (if it's more than one day of OT) of critical coverage OT if you are displaced.

I've found a couple dozen mistakes over the years in their favor, never the other way around. Sometimes Scheduling codes things wrong, sometimes Scheduling changes correct codes later, and sometimes their system just forgets to pay you for cancelled flights or reassignments.
