One issue is that many folks at Envoy still remember the "good ole days" when we had 95% of AA's feed. We had a much better variety of lines including stuff like 18-19 days off with day trips or two-day "back-to-backs" paying 87 hours. The average days off back then seemed to be 15. Now, we are one of 10-ish regionals, and are sharing much of the flying that used to contribute to building our good schedules. We've become more like a typical regional operation than a nation-spanning carrier.
This is spot on. And there's a lot to be said about the comparison to the glory days of American Eagle schedules. They were awesome. Once you know those kind of schedules it's really hard to see the garbage that we've got now. The schedules are the hardest to deal with for commuters. 4 on 2 off can make life very tough as a commuter. Driving to base, while it still sucks, is a lot more tolerable. There seem to be slightly fewer 4 on 2 off every month, but there is still a lot of it. And the schedules are really inefficient. Anywhere from 11 to 15 days off with the majority worth only 70 something hours. Until more consolidation of AA's regional feed happens, which will happen but it's going to be over the next few years, schedules will remain not good at all. And they'll never be what they used to be prior to US Air coming to the party.

I live in base and have no issues!. I wouldn't commute for a regional though. It will be a different tune when I flow!

If a new hire were to get stuck in the CRJ. What would be the best way (if any) to get to the 145 ASAP?

Upgrade to Capt. on the 145. Other than that you are SOL. Unless you get displaced which may happen, but not for a while.

2. Get displaced off the CRJ.
3. Walk out of class and go to PDT. (Sorry I miss read your post.). This would not be the best option but it would be that fastest.

Thanks TeeRainPULup and Pedro for the info. I heard that the CRJ has been going junior lately. With my age I am afraid that is what I will be stuck in

At the moment I live about two hours out of DFW. Once I go to Envoy my plan is to go to the DFW area.

Haven't heard of anyone getting "stuck" in the CRJ as a new hire. There have only a few CRJ positions in each class tending to go to people who want ORD. My understanding is that junior picks have been selecting 145 in either ORD or LGA.
