Default Embraer HUD

Embraer propaganda on the 175 shows dual HUDs.

Not a waste at all. Maybe not as important on a two pilot aircraft as a single seat fighter, but being able to look out for the runway at the bottom of an ILS while still on the instruments can make the difference between a good and safe landing instead of a missed or at the very least less than stellar landing. But I guess when the company questions a few extra gallons of gas, you can't expect them to pony up for technology either. Personally I would like to have both.

Article in the new AOPA mag about the new system in the Embraer Legacy. Other similar systems out there but can turn night 0/0 into day CAVOK.

I'm not a "child of the magenta line." I learned how to fly iron gauges and ADFs, but I like technology when it makes things easier and safer.

Unless you're doing a CAT III, the HUD is just a gee whiz piece of equipment. I've done CAT II approaches real world in the airplane and I've played around with the HUD in the sim doing CAT IIs. Honestly, I prefer not having the HUD.

If it is? Yep, and not just now, it's been for a few years actually. B-787, new gen ERJs, new gen Airbuss...

If the HUDS are displaying critical approach, corridor, and clearance data that's one thing. I was basing my statement off of, as you said, fighter style info that's generally presented, where mine is keeping me up to date either under night vision with FLIR, or basic A/C and wpns info.

How long before the day of the interview does one usually receive hotel and travel confirmation? Thanks.
