What base and equipment?

I guess I should have specified ORD EMJ CA. Our junior line holder was a 1/07 hire, not sure how long ago they upgraded.

Some hotels do have crew rates. You do get four freebie stays in a hotel a month just for commuting in or out of base. However, it would be more cost effective to do a crash pad if not flying trips that much. I know captains don't have that issue, but not sure for FOs.

We told people our upgrade time would fall to 2.5 years when it was at the time 8.5, and nobody believed it. Now, a year later it is 4.5 years and people still don't believe it.
If you don't believe the projections, just wait on the sideline until it drops to 2.5 years.
Get on that backside of the hiring and retirement wave that pilots are so good at finding.
This is true, nobody believed it. In fairness, however, nobody knew QoL would be so bad that so many FOs would bypass upgrade, dropping the time further. I have flown with a few who said they plan to flow from the right seat.

NOBODY believed it when Wilson announced the 6/2.5. And no one should have under the current state of the airline. Once they announced the flex pay and LGA opening up then the possibility of his claims were justifiable. Prior to the flex pay the prediction is so far removed from possibility that it was infuriating for him to suggest it.

2 year upgrades are very possible looking forward. Wouldn't be surprised if it happened this year or early next.

Now if we can just get the QOL back.

If poor QOL brought the upgrade times down, then maybe RW will not be motivated to improve it. We still need to retain. I'm not holding my breath. Upgrades and flow are working though

The abysmal QOL is motivating me to VERY AGGRESSIVELY seek alternate employment.... I know I'm not the only one trying to move on to something better.

How long have folks like you been there? Order of magnitude - are you a 6 month sufferer, or a 6 year sufferer?

Crj. I think we're the only ones properly staffed. Dropping reserve days , PVD approvals and sitting multiple days at home on RAPs are the norm.
