I guess I should have specified ORD EMJ CA. Our junior line holder was a 1/07 hire, not sure how long ago they upgraded.

Are commuters responsible for paying for their own hotel while on reserve? I assume that is what drives the need for crash pads. That would be a significant hit on the finances if you didn't get picked up for a trip. Is there a reduced rate for pilots at the airport hotels?
Some hotels do have crew rates. You do get four freebie stays in a hotel a month just for commuting in or out of base. However, it would be more cost effective to do a crash pad if not flying trips that much. I know captains don't have that issue, but not sure for FOs.

Please tell me you know the difference between someone hired before AMR declared bankruptcy and a pilot hired today. Its a completely different world! How many times do we have to go over this.
We told people our upgrade time would fall to 2.5 years when it was at the time 8.5, and nobody believed it. Now, a year later it is 4.5 years and people still don't believe it.
If you don't believe the projections, just wait on the sideline until it drops to 2.5 years.
Get on that backside of the hiring and retirement wave that pilots are so good at finding.

2 year upgrades are very possible looking forward. Wouldn't be surprised if it happened this year or early next.
Now if we can just get the QOL back.

The abysmal QOL is motivating me to VERY AGGRESSIVELY seek alternate employment.... I know I'm not the only one trying to move on to something better.
