That's 26. How many CRJ CA's have gone to AA since the last bid? How many are projected to flow in the next 6 months. How many of those are in the training department? They are hiring 20+ E145 instructors right now. How many CRJ instructors are they hiring? If the CRJ'so are not going away soon, the company will be behind the ball again. This time, I don't see that happening. Something big is in the works. My opinion.

They went ahead of the game upgrading a lot of guys from last years until this bid.

The CRJ is the only well staffed plane. It's the only equipment without critical coverage the whole month of November.

Hence why they keep posting for and training new check airmen.

Was told today some confusing info regarding the bid system... looming for clarification.

Instead of using PBS and letting pilots build their own trips each month they made it seem like they build an entire month's worth of trips and we bid on a monthly line, almost like bidding on an entire package of trips instead of individual trips?

We could count, but it's not worth my time. The schedule email every month shows that our crj block hours are increasing and it's the only fleet that has adequate staffing.

Something about your "there aren't any replacement pilots coming" claim doesn't add up.

What does add up is that by your own admission you are heading to AA very shortly, and like clockwork you have adapted the burn-it-down mentality of many of the flows who have come before you.

Why in the world would they do that?
(That's a serious question. Please refrain from the water cooler banter that this type of question usually elicits).
I genuinely don't understand why someone from a cubicle who probably doesn't really care very mich about how a trip is put together (except
For meeting monthly mins) would be in charge instead of the actual pilots???

That was a major red flag for me.

Because they still want to maintain control. They give you the impression that's it's good for you but in reality the current bidding system is better.

The union is involved some with the building of trips.

PBS, would be a huge give from us. It would get rid of any trip conflicts. Say your bid has carry over into November like some of the October packets had flying into the 3rd. PBS would not allow you to have any trips that conflicted with that. Our current system, you can bid for a line that has a sequence on those days AND YOU ARE PAY PROTECTED. Many pilots use this to their advantage and get a whole sequence paid for without flying any of it. Also, our current system allows us to drop whole sequences if they touch our vacation. So one week of vacation can turn into 2 to 3 weeks. PBS would get rid of that and only allow you to bid for trips around your vacation, and one week would be one week of vacation.

While PBS could give you a little more control over exactly what days you are off. With our contract it is not worth it at all.
