Hello all, I am a pipeline instructor with Envoy " who's very close to ATP mins now." When I got in things looked Golden or good, now not so much. AM I IN TROUBLE? ha I truly do respect you guys and Gals for standing up for yourselves and the profession. What i Cant comprehend is the fact that at my school, one of the better places in the US to work.. build flight time lots.. salary pay..sick time..401k..health vacation time and we can't seem to find CFI's even with signing bonuses and new A20's. Half of my fellow CFI's are going corporate or trying other routes to stay away from the regionals. I think there is a lack of pilots in the pipeline I see companies taking pay cuts with pay caps that are locked in for years... Im confused!

You should be good. That pipeline program is funded by AAG. When envoy is shutdown you will have a job at PDT or PSA.

Great to hear another perspective. When I was an instructor in 2009/2010 people were tripping over themselves to fly a regional jet. I am glad to hear that enough career pilots are trying to avoid the regionals all together.

Are you in trouble? My understanding is the pipeline program is non-binding. IE the moment you get your minimums you quit. Question for you: Who pays you as a pipeline instructor? IE does your check come from your school or from AA? I think that matters for resume stuff and who you said you have worked for.

Both. Mesa first and eventually PSA will join the DFW American Eagle team.
Are you management? Did you decide this by yourself?

How many planes are in DFW including Eagle 700/145/140s and ASA 200s?

Am I reading that correctly? A Piedmont pilot calling another airline a bottom feeder?

With what Piedmont just did to the industry - literally setting us back 20 years worth of pattern bargaining - YOU ARE THE EPITOME OF A BOTTOM FEEDER.

20 years? Really?

The only pseudo pattern bargaining that took place was in 2001. Comair struck and signed a decent contract, and on 9/11/01 AWAC signed their contract after walking out and going on strike the very next day.

Kinda a moot point, Comair no longer exists after taking multiple concessions and AWAC took concessions in 2003. Various other companies since then, notably TSA, Pinnacle, Republic/Chautauqua, Mesa, & PSA, have had horrendous contracts in comparison to those two.

There is most definitely no "pattern" in this "pattern bargaining" you speak of.

I really don't want to go to PDT or PSA. If they do merge seems like there could be fist fights in the cockpit. Idk ha. As for the pipeline program there is a contract and a 5 k buyout as far as I know. I haven't dug deep into it yet, but will on my off days. AA pays me I don't know exactly how it works but they do sign my checks. Envoy also came recruiting at my school with a upper management from AA who had nothing but good news to say , I was confused to say the least after reading through all these posts.

You shouldn't make possibly career altering decisions based on what you read from idiots posting on here.

Do your research and go with what you think is going to benefit YOU the most. Contrary to popular belief PDT and PSA both have decent contracts and would most likely be great places to start you career. Compass is also growing and has a good contract.

Holding the imaginary "line" isn't as glamorous as you think when your friends start upgrading and moving on to majors.

Good luck.
