Default Envoy Instructor Pilots

I saw an old job posting for Envoy simulator instructors. I am curious: Does Envoy only have dedicated instructors, or do they have line pilots working in the training department as instructors also?

I have a CJO from Envoy as an off the street FO/ATP, so I am putting the cart before the horse. However, I live in the Dallas area. I would be interested in instructing for Envoy while flying there.

They have a mix of dedicated sim instructors and line pilots who work in the school house. Most of the dedicated sim instructors were line pilots at Envoy and for whatever reason can no longer fly the line. Or, they retired from Envoy and became PSIs.

The majority of Envoy's sim instructors are current or retired Envoy line pilots. About 20 of them have been sent back to fly the line in July and August. Attrition has slowed way down in the last six months and Envoy thinks we are close enough to being properly staffed to ease up on recruiting and eliminate bonuses. Since AA posted a loss, Envoy is cutting back. I heard a rumor that the next few new hire Indoc classes would contain 4-8 pilots.

I know someone who went right into sim instructing for Envoy without ever having to sit reserve but I don't think there is enough demand for that to work now. Ask your sim instructors during initial training and I am sure they will have more current advice.

I appreciate your insights. That's what I was thinking, but I wanted to double-check. I am weighing my options now as I have offers from other airlines and a large fractional. It's tough to decide whether to wait for "my number" to be called at Envoy for indoc or move on to other options. Either way, I want to instruct at the airline I fly for. Regardless, I am not moving my family again - we are staying in the Dallas area. Thus, Envoy would be the most ideal.
