Default Envoy bases

Historically, how fluid are the Envoy bases, i.e. how often do they change?

For example, Phoenix is a relatively new base, and wasn't LA a base at one point? Asking as someone who would potentially uproot our family to be closer to base.

Nothing concrete, but recruiters I've interacted with have heard rumors LAX or NYC will come back this summer. I'm not even on property yet, so take that with a huge grain of salt.

massive, I would say.
Bases come back and go away based on other airlines' ability to staff the flying.
Dfw/ord have been around for a while. Mia is likely going to stay, phx - who knows. Probably staying for the foreseeable future

how long has Miami been a base? That wouldn't go away for AA, which means it wouldn't go away for Envoy, correct?

Someone told me Republic used to do the Miami flying. AA could give the Miami flying to any other AA regional if they chose. I don't think that's likely in the near future but it's always possible.

Google says Envoy opened Miami in 2017 and closed LGA in 2020. Envoy is still competing with SkyWest for the Phoenix flying; I hear Envoy would have grown PHX a lot faster if SkyWest hadn't made such a competitive bid for Mesa's former PHX flying.

They told us in training that AA tells us to jump and Envoy asks how high. AA is the one making the decisions of where we fly and how often.

The management liars (Dic Wilson and R Neider) told our new hire class (and everyone else back then) 6 years ago that LAX base is a "done deal". Obviously didn't happen.

I truly hope it happens but the fact is, Envoy will get that base if AA gives it to them. Nothing Envoy does will change that.

Your jump/how high is the correct understanding of how it is.

It was funny back in 2020 when Republic guys were saying how Envoy "cant get" EOW. Some said "FAA denied them because Republic performance was so good". Look up the posts here if you want.
Yet, in a few months, Envoy got EOW. I was part of the group who worked on it.

Envoy isn't competing for anything. Envoy does what AA gives them. Right now it makes sense to fly a WO. Covid showed how fragile that can be. WO regionals don't have any minimum service guarantees, RAH/Skywest do.

Exactly. I would trust Dic Wilson about as much as I trust a fart after a three day binge of beer, sushi, and lamb vindaloo. Dic will say whatever he wants to make people think that he has any say in what bases AAG tells him to open.

Default Commuting

I didn't want to start another thread and this one seemed most relevant.

If hired, would be commuting from the Pensacola area for a bit. Anyone on here making that commute? I am assuming I'll get MIA or DFW. Other threads have listed ORD as always open. Planning on avoiding ORD if possible from the start and making the commute to MIA or DFW as needed.

Thanks
