I didn't want to start another thread and this one seemed most relevant.
If hired, would be commuting from the Pensacola area for a bit. Anyone on here making that commute? I am assuming I'll get MIA or DFW. Other threads have listed ORD as always open. Planning on avoiding ORD if possible from the start and making the commute to MIA or DFW as needed.
Thanks

Envoy goes through periods where they give FO classes a choice of any base, then they start sending all new hires to ORD. If that happens, you will be able to hold any base at the next system bid (run every 3 months), but you may find yourself commuting to ORD for a month or two since base transfer timing is at the discretion of the company. They will book you space positive travel for IOE, then give you 3 move days and you're then responsible for your own commute.

I am a commuter, though not in that part of the country. A quick search shows 1 flight tomorrow PNS-ORD(AA), 3 flights PNS-MIA(all AA), and 7 flights PNS-DFW (1 Spirit, 6 AA). I hear there are a lot of Florida commuters, and I have met many in DFW who say they have a better frequency of flights to DFW than MIA. You can list for AA flights on the company website and it automatically puts you in the system as a pilot jump seat eligible AA Eagle pilot. AA mainline pilots and anyone who checks in before you will have priority, but you will have priority over offline jump seaters. I have seen as many as 4 other AA jump seaters checked in for the same full flight. You will get a seat assigned in your email if there is one available but you sometimes need to remind the gate agents to get a 1W pass for the jump seat. With Spirit you also have to list for the jump seat ahead of time, I haven't traveled on them but someone told me to watch their boarding area if I was ever bored at the airport. AA customers are generally much better behaved than Spirits.

Good evening, all -
The above 2 posts have been incredibly helpful. Excellent information.
My main concern is the lines for Envoy seem to be 3-4 day trips and I'd be communting from KPNS where there is a high concentration of commuting pilots. I am still trying to wrap my head around getting to (theoretical base) KDFW via jumpseat or a non-rev (?) seat in the back ahead of the first flight on my line (or reserve).
Again, good info!
Thanks!
