So word on the street is those 12 will all be factory new unlike the mixed bag of used car lot 170s we've got this year. Hey at least most of the 170s, if not all, finally have printers.

At some point AA needs to make a decision on PDT. The 145’s need to be retired. You can re-fleet PDT with 175’s, or, merge them into Envoy, keep the ground handling as its own entity, and eliminate an entire flight ops structure. Time will tell, but those 78 firm won’t all end up at Envoy if PDT gets a re-fleet.

Piedmont will shut down as the 145s get retired, and AA will flow the pilots. Those hired near the end will enjoy a faster flow than their peers at the other two wholly owneds. Piedmont has value as a ground service provider but Envoy could integrate that into their existing operation. The new 175s will most likely be operated by Envoy/SkyWest unless Envoy’s current safety mishaps continue, then which they will be operated by SkyWest to replace the CRJ flying out of DFW, LAX, and PHX. In my opinion, the new 175s will most likely be split between Envoy and SkyWest because the more SkyWest pilots AAG can get flying AA block hours, the less SkyWest pilots are available to fly for their competitors. And the recent investments by AAG into Envoy’s training facilities indicate growth is the plan.

As in, you have no clue, because no-one at Envoy has no clue, because it just happens to be whoever can cut costs the most when the time comes.

There have been several factory-new 175s delivered this year. I flew one the other day that had less than 100 hours on it, and I flew at least 2 others since June. The "improved" 170s with printers and real outlets had been a nice suprise though. Word from MX is that they are supposed to add printers to those that don't have them at some point in the coming months. Then again, as we know, "rumors" can be trusted as much as crew scheduling when it comes to staffing.

Envoy is rehiring a bunch of professional sim instructors next month and has been advertising for more. They have been doing line observation rides in preparation. Envoy has been managing recurrent training with current and retired line pilots, so it appears to me they are gearing up for serious training.
