I hear there are pilots who had their Envoy May Orientation date cancelled 6 days prior who still haven't gotten new hire class dates. It's interesting to hear they are interviewing but I would expect a long wait for a class date.

Aero crew news, as well as some in the training department. The Aerocrew website shows Envoy has paused all hiring until 2025. Your interview aside, I'm betting you wont get a class date until well into next year.

All bases had unfilled FO vacancies but ORD had 101 unfilled FO vacancies. This indicates to me that Envoy plans to continue training new FOs.

The most junior pilot in each base had a hire date of:

PHX CA - DEC 2023
MIA CA - JAN 2024
ORD CA - MAY 2024
DFW CA - FEB 2024

PHX FO - APR 2024
MIA FO - APR 2024
ORD FO - JUN 2024
DFW FO - MAR 2024
Just out of curiosity, what is life like for a Direct Entry Captain at ORD? How long for weekends off and not to fly redeyes?

Why are we citing to AeroCrewNews when their Facebook post is based on the same email hundreds of cadets and pilots on this forum received? The email didn’t specifically say hiring was paused till 2025. Indeed it could be interpreted as one (perhaps likely) possibility, but it didn’t say that. Highly doubt ACN has a different “inside scoop.”

The email also made it pretty clear that IF the mainline starts hiring next year, that will be what finally gets classes going again. The guys who are interviewing now likely scored/scheduled theirs a long time ago.

Okay hear me out. Crew planning was requesting 100+ pilots for the Oct/Nov/Dec period at the end of July. There was a known break in training from mid July until October so they could do CA upgrades. So that would explain the "P.S." when they said they are "temporarily stopping hiring" (it said hiring, not training) in the email.

I know that second to last sentence mentions the mainline hiring and how that would resume envoy to a hiring staus as well but they also said something like this earlier this year "within the industry some carriers, have either slowed down and/or stopped pilot hiring. That is not the case for Envoy with aircraft delivery stream that continous into 2025, we will be hiring DECs, Cadets, and FOs every month throughout this year." Obvisously things changed when AA stopped hiring but the reason for continued hiring was new aircraft deliveries not anything else.

Even if it is a portion of those 100+, I think they will at least get some of the cadets started. Removing 100+ FOs from the forecast like it was nothing in a week is possible but I'm gonna say that they are still planning on some degree of training this year/fall.

In addition to this, some cadets, who did not get a CJO before they got rid of orientations, have heard that the CRB will be processing their paperwork soon. I personally got an email from them the other day asking to resend a document so "it does not hold me up from going into class once completed." Why would they be recollecting paperwork now if they weren't going to call me for another 4 months just to lose it again? Also, why would they still hold interviews in august/september (and not just push them to next year) if those people wouldn't be seeing a class until possibly next summer if training does not start until January or later. Just some stuff to think about.

Things can change on us pretty quickly but I am gonna remain hopeful (and maybe a bit delusional haha) that we will see some type of training resuming this fall!

You are very late to the DEC hiring wave that began in June 2022. The hiring bonus was suspended in May 2024 and I heard in recurrent in June that Envoy is no longer looking for DECs because they now have plenty of FOs at captain mins ready to upgrade. Word is there are FOs who bid for upgrade and didn't get it on the July bid award and are still waiting.

Envoy has been offering time off without pay to Captains and FOs in all bases for the months of September through December. Rumor was that training would resume for people already in the hiring pool in October, but that controversial letter that implies hiring has stopped until next year puts that in doubt.

For a DEC to gain seniority for better schedules, he or she needs either DECs to be hired after them or FOs junior to them to upgrade. Even if Envoy hires you and chooses to train you in a timely fashion, I doubt there will be many DECs hired after you.

Redeyes are rare at Envoy. PHX had LAS-AUS redeyes in June, I don't think the other bases have had them in the last couple years. ORD is Envoy's junior base. In the past, DECs in ORD saw improved schedules after 7-9 months, but it all depends on where they were in the DEC hiring wave and things have significantly slowed down. Your mileage may vary.

I can confirm that senior FOs in DFW bid for, and did not get their upgrade during the last bid.
