It's always possible that American's woes will trickle down to Envoy; I certainly hope it doesn't get worse than no flight deck Wi-Fi, no kiddie wings, and being short staffed on reserves, but it's possible. Those who have already interviewed with Envoy have a decent shot, but it wouldn't expect more interviews until at least mid fall. The fact that the captains review board hasn't met in awhile is an indication of shifting priorities at headquarters.
It sucks to be furloughed and I wish you the best. I recommend you apply everywhere. It's a tough job market right now.

I got a call this morning from them after expecting them to reach out this week. I spoke to the same person (who doesn't remember talking to me three weeks ago) and they said they haven't finished scheduling the May group yet (even hough they told me they finished scheduling them 3 weeks ago) which checks out with what some of you guys in the May group have been saying. They then said to reach out to them at the "end of the summer" if I have not heard from them yet (end of summer means end of August when I asked). Last point is they said when they get to the June orientation group they will call back the cadets first and within the cadets will take them by their senority within the cadet program.
My guess based off everything I've heard is that the May people will be August-September, June will be September-October, July will be October-November, and then everyone after that depending on how big they start making the classes. A slow down is better than a pause but still sucks.

Definitely not ideal, but at least they called! Better to have some movement than a total shutdown like we're seeing at other airlines.
I'm a May orientation cancelation and I'm done being frustrated; will try to look at it from the optimistic side for now.

I’m worried since I haven’t met the board yet, but I will be easier candidate to just resend my pre-employment offer

The preliminary vacancy bid is out. ALPA will have a better analysis out in a week but what I see is there were 30 upgrade awards, no forced upgrades, and lots of base transfers. The bottom 30 are FOs in training who had an ORD status and were awarded DFW, PHX, or MIA. It appears that the push for DECs is gone along with the bonus and most new hires will spend a month or two in ORD before being able to transfer to another base.
The last vacancy award 3 months ago had 55 upgrade awards and a lot more openings in general. This tells me that training has slowed down but not stopped completely. This is normal considering that attrition has almost completely stopped. The good thing is we have gotten a lot of used and new aircraft and we're barely halfway through the year. We're also short on reserves in DFW. Hopefully that means Envoy will continue to hire even if it's slowed down for the summer.

Welcome to AA. Using up all the reserves is part of the staffing model. Did they cancel a flight for lack of crews? Until that happens management will be happy with minimum staffing levels.
Everything hinges on what happens in the fall. If demand holds up then hiring will resume. If not then shrink to profitability begins.
So cross your fingers that people keep buying airline tickets with money they don't have and credit card companies continue to let them.
This is how fast the music stops. Hiring occurs at such a breakneck pace that movement seems to be permanent then in the space of a month or six weeks all the desirable employers stop hiring and less than a month later so does almost everyone else.

It could be worse, much worse. Mesa is furloughing. Piedmont has stopped hiring and is a big question mark. Spirit is on the verge of furloughs. The remaining LCCs are on a hold for various reasons. It's feast or famine. We were force upgrading last year. Now upgrades are going senior-ish again. Just shows how quick things can turn.
When Boeing gets their sh!t in order, hiring is going to be crazy again. We've seen it before. Some of these regionals are going to be caught off guard (again). That's almost guaranteed.

I know for a fact that recent flights have cancelled due to lack of crews. Junior manning has seen an increase (I've seen various pilots with JM coded in their trips.). Pilots on their last day of reserve bidding RAP2/3 thinking they won't get used, but then get called in for airport standby and ultimately a JM overnight. How often has this been going on in the last 30-60 days?............... I get it. It's the typical airline staffing model. Just have enough to get through the summer. Nothing new under the sun. Holiday staffing, like today July 4, is the exception. Funny when you pay crews 1.5x, there is virtually no open time, no sick calls or dropped trips and airplanes aren't breaking. Then there are over 15 CA trips in open time starting tomorrow. *Tongue in cheek!*

Let's hope aircraft deliveries pick up! My big question is what is happening with forward bookings in the fall? I haven't seen it discussed by management. If demand falls off then these airplane orders become replacements instead of growth or even worse they get deferred. I expect them to keep slipping anyway. Even Airbus is admitting that their supply chains are a disaster and they will not meet delivery targets.
The next big question mark is where all the 175s are going to end up. There is already a large scope clause violation penalty coming.

I'm loving all the open time to proffer for tomorrow. It worked out good for me even if they wouldn't let me drop the 5th. Now I hope the VCTS in the TAF tomorrow don't affect my commute.
