Envoy is running 30 pilots through recurrent this week who each need 3 sim sessions and they seem to have recurrent classes once a week. Add to that the upgrade classes and small new hire classes. They may not be running the wholly owned sims at full capacity but I expect AA can afford to plan long term. Last year Envoy was using leased sims from Flight Safety and CAE as well.
We're still receiving new used E175s and E170s. Someone was joking about refusing to fly a plane on Facebook because it still had a SkyWest logo in the galley. They do standardize and change the tail numbers on most of those planes...eventually.

Until you have no reserves to cover anything, notably in DFW. May was brutal (weather!), especially the last couple of weeks up until just a few days ago. DFW CA reserves were stretched thin. On any given day, DFW was starting out with 5 to 10 captains total on reserve. Yeah, not sure how they got through that. I did see a handful of people get junior manned. But this is all nothing really new in the airline biz. Meanwhile we continue to take on 2ish aircraft per month. Summer travel is here. Hold on to your butts.....

Their canned email response still says "3-4 weeks out" and they've been adding pilots to the backlog. So my guess is 3-4 weeks is not a real number, but just something they think people can tolerate well enough to leave them alone for a bit.

Also I had another person tell me that they passed the captains review board yesterday and were told to expect October for their class date.

"We are currently working on basic INDOC class schedules for the May cancelled onboarding orientation.
Once May has been completed then the estimated timeframe for us to start rescheduling the June, July and August (cancelled onboarding orientation) should be within the next 3-4 weeks’ time frame. Pilots’ will be scheduled in chronical order based off of their previous cancelled orientation date.
Now in the meantime the class prep team is auditing your files. So, if they need anything updated you’ll be contacting you via email or phone"
I'm leaving them alone until early July since I originally had the July 11th date.

Let’s say the most common rumors right now (6 pilots per class and then normal in September) are true.
Between the May, June, July, and August orientations that’s at least 200 pilots that need scheduled.
About 30 could get in during the Summer, leaving 170 come September
If they truly do return to 40 person classes then, that would clear only the backlog of people who had orientations cancelled at the end of October. Only then in November would they even start scheduling those who never heard about an orientation and are waiting to hear anything (probably a couple hundred more)

I got a hold of them the other day and said they just finished placing all of the May Orientation people into Indoc classes and they are now starting on June Orientation people. I was originally in the July Orientation but when I called they said they moved me (and some other cadets) up into the June "group" (I am also a cadet instructor). They also said to expect ATP-CTP in 3 weeks and then Indoc "immediately" after that. So I am guessing I will be in the July 15th Indoc best case sceanrio.
Also I had another person tell me that they passed the captains review board yesterday and were told to expect October for their class date.

Yeah. I emailed class prep yesterday and they still gave the same copy and paste reply of "3-4 weeks." Cadet with July 11th orientation here.
