You may be right, but it would mean they had enough FOs preference bid.
And it has occured to me that perhaps the company let 10 FOs escape the 15 G 4 last time to get FOs who want to upgrade but are playing the displacement game to simply preference bid in the future.

It all depends on how people bid. If a majority of the bids aren’t preferences then I could be wrong but we are pilots and it’s usually a me first attitude especially in position bidding. No one will or should fault a pilot for his preference bids.

My take on the company not displacing the FOs is that they can’t flow unless they upgrade to CA and by simply waiting it out they can force the guys to upgrade without displacements. Also, this bid is pretty heavy on Miami 145 and 175 upgrades. DFW 175 will get bid up as well as MIA.

But I agree on not faulting anyone on how they bid. It s just too hard to predict at the moment. I feel for anyone that wanted to upgrade and tried the displacement route and swung and missed. That would suck. I think they ll still be able to do it via proffer to displace this time if they take an initial bid to a less preferable base. That's the route I would take.

Hey guys, I’ve got an exciting opportunity for you. Maybe flying is not for you, but you still need something VERY competitive! Do you have heavy equipment experience? We conduct weekly interviews in the school gymnasium every Sunday at 6pm, resume not required! No drug-screening!
Do you have a future driving a forklift?
2nd year FO: (40/hour (APC) x 75)x12=36k
Forklift driver avg compensation (Glassdoor): 32k

Todd!
If you have screen shots of the occurrence you can grieve it. With sufficient evidence it's helpful to the pilot group when it goes through. If you win I think you get the block pay for what you missed. Don't have the contract in front of me.

"Fly it and grieve it" or in this instance don't fly it and grieve it. They mess flight assignments up pretty frequently though. Keeps you on your toes.
