Keep dreaming. The major players, including SKW and RPA, are going to everything they have to do to keep the relationship the way it is. If the majors can save a half a penny per passenger mile, they will. The majors will start throwing more money if they have to buy as long as it’s cheaper they will. There are too many small feeder locations, too small to ever be financially practical to be served by even a 319 or 220, that collectively add up to too much revenue to be abandoned.

The weak link isn’t the routes. It’s staffing. If and when it costs the same to put a regional pilot in the cockpit as a mainline one, the regional plantation for pilots will go away. I agree with you on one front though, SKYW will always be there.

There's more to the regional model than just the pilots.

OK. I'd say all the other job functions at the regionals also effect pilots in this case. They may pay us more or even give us mainline seniority numbers or negotiate better contract terms due to pilot staffing issues. But they're not going to get rid or regionals just because of the pilots. All the other staffing positions are cheaper as well at the regionals.

Well, for Skywest to remain, they need to be flying those mainline passengers from smaller locations, AKA regional airline.
