Do you have any clue if they also chose base & aircraft during orientation? I’m assuming they did if they also received seniority numbers.

I’m doing ctp now and orientation on the 13th. They said I’ll be sent home for a few weeks to wait for a hard indoc class date.

They did not select equipment back when they did the 1 day visit. That would have been nasty for the recalled pilots.

Bonus aren’t really as much to encourage upgrade as it is to keep those captains at the respective company. There are hundreds, maybe as many as a 7-800 that have the time to upgrade, waiting for a vacancy and those will be very much based on seniority. But then there is a big hole after that with folks that have been stuck on reserve and no one hired below them. Those 1000 hour two plus year FOs are the ones mostly leaving. 60 or so total in August. Probably 60% FOs. They don’t think they can upgrade anytime soon so bailing for ULLCs and ACMI.
Well, once the movement/hiring gets moving in the months to come, won't everyone that has their 1000 121 get a chance at upgrading before too long? I'm sure there are plenty of FOs that did get hired at the start of 2020 and don't have their 1000 121, so I can see it being a while for them to upgrade. I guess the guys you mention that would be at the bottom of that eligible for upgrade list don't want to wait any longer, but either way it sounds like if things do improve as predicted everyone that wants it would get their chance if they wait it out a little.

Yes, but you are looking at this from the viewpoint of someone with some experience and maturity. There are quite a few that don’t have your vantage point and those are the impatient ones that believe they shouldn’t have to wait for ANYTHING.

The fact that they're bailing indicates that they don't have to wait.

Is it confirmed that classes are every week now instead of every two weeks?

no, it's needs of the company and if they want to do one class every year or one class every day they'll do that. talk to your recruiter to see what the trends look like.

I was referencing the guy a few pages back that said RW recently mentioned classes starting every week beginning in September.

At some point before the pandemic, they were SORT OF running a class every week. They would start every two weeks with indoc and then break down with one group continuing and one group delaying a week. The sim space, training devices and instructors determine throughput. My understanding is at least one of the 145 sims ENY uses is being relocated, so using a different facility, which is something they don’t like to do. More $. But there is no reason to do an indoc class every week. One instructor can do one student or 40 and if they were doing indoc every week for 20 students instead of every two weeks for 40, that’s a class room and instructor for a week that can be used for other training.

Now, that being said, they can do what they want. There are some reasons they might choose to do different start dates, although a phased onboarding where you get a seniority number already does that.
