Please post back as you hear more. I'm not 'there' yet with the hours but if I was displaced to a position I did not want, I'd be doing exactly what you're doing to get back to a position I wanted.

It is my understanding that there is no need to proffer back to an FO so long as your seniority can hold the equipment/base you want. For example you were displaced to LGA CA145 but after displacement a spot in DFW CA175 opens that you can hold, as long as your seniority is good for it they have to move you to that spot.

Am I misunderstanding this process?

CA bidding from equipment to equipment is a little more complicated than that. Refer to 15.D.4 and 15.D.5 of the contract. Though I have no idea how this plays out in practice.

For clarification purposes - I proffered to FO (as I have not completed my fed ride). I knew full well that I would be immediately re-displaced to NCE, but I wanted the award to show me getting a ‘new captain status’ so I could take advantage of the LOA offering captain pay at bid award rather than at fed ride completion. I still have ~7 weeks until my fed ride, and it would be nice to start making captain pay today, especially as there are new captain awards junior to me whom are now effectively making captain pay whom have not started training.

I know that all pilots before me have dealt with far worse pay/conditions and have had a worse experience at Envoy compared to me. I was simply trying to use the contract/LOAs to my gain.

Thanks.

Well played sir! Never even thought about this scenario. It's completely legit and you should be making CA pay as well as qualify for the LOA.

I kinda wish you would of stated your intentions earlier so more people could take advantage of this.

Thanks Pedro, I didn’t even think about posting this earlier - the thing is, my name is not on the award...

Great plan buddy, thats a great way to use the contract. Hopefully more can take advantage of this. Anyway, let us know how it plays out and hopefully the union can get it resolved.

Essentially if someone junior to them holds a position then that pilot will be assigned OCL(for example) and then the most junior OCL pilot will be displaced out of the position to what ever position he can now hold.
Right, but the senior FOs are displacing into unfilled CA vacancies. Other than DFW (or maybe MIA?), what DECs are going to get bumped from ORD and LGA?? There are plenty of vacancies for the newly displaced senior FOs to fill before a DEC would ever be bumped.
