There's no telling. Most people on this forum would tell you as a DEC that you'd be stuck in LGA for 2+ years. Bottom line, nobody knows.

I think that was the trueth until the LOA with the hotel and A travel benefits to NY happened. It's a short term benefit but it matters.

Just feel like management is consistent against the pilot group. Shame.

I would assume so. No one can just knock you out of your base just because they are senior to you and they want it. Now, if the company is shrinking a fleet/base and displacing pilots, then you could have an issue, but they haven’t been displacing from bases lately (that I’m aware of)...only from right to left seat and those folks are being displaced to fill open vacancies.

It wasn’t just the NY LOA that did it. It’s a combo of fleet plan changes, who is flowing, etc. Lot’s of upcoming flows from the CRJ due to the large quantity of upgrades at the same time into that aircraft a few years ago. The CRJ is in ORD and seems unpopular with the pilot group. So, I would guess that DECs May have opportunities to skip NY altogether. Also, they are going to have to start ramping up the E75 CA list to balance flows and upcoming deliveries in Q4. So, that’s going to open CA positions in other bases as people switch planes.

There’s a lot more going on than just the effect of an LOA granting a few months of commuting help. Remember that not every FO is being displaced to NY. I have flown with a few who have been FOs for 2+ years and are going straight to OCL.

Well if you aren't aware of the recent displacements then you are either an FO or Senior CA. Displacements have happened for the last three bids usually out of DFW on the 145/175. After hearing that there were unfilled vacancies in ORD and LGA then I don't think he needs to be worried about displacements.

An FO displaced to CA could displace a current CA in that position. It happened on the previous bid. The likelihood of that happening in Chicago is slim however.

While your first paragraph is spot on I am afraid you along with many other FOs don't understand what's happens when a pilot gets forced to upgrade.

Once a pilot is forced/displaced from the FO position then they are entitled to what ever position they can hold. Essentially if someone junior to them holds a position then that pilot will be assigned OCL(for example) and then the most junior OCL pilot will be displaced out of the position to what ever position he can now hold.

I was surprised to see how junior OCL went this round.

I am in upgrade class (from a displacement) as we speak, but have not taken the FedRide - I '3P'd' back to my old FO status knowing full well that I could hold it, get it awarded, and then be re-displaced to one of my 3D captain status'. My name is not on the preliminary award, and am wondering if this is correct? The reps I reached out to did not seem to have a good answer, but are looking into it.
