They can displace any base/seat/equipment their seniority can hold. If they chose the 175, then they go back to the 145 on May 1st until their training date. The most junior instructor is senior to the most junior DFW 175 CA. So if all instructors chose the 175 that's where they're going...
I spoke with 4 instructors who are going back to the line. All 4 are going to the 175 DFW. Its safe to say that most if not all the other 11 are doing the same.

So 2 of the 15 guys in May being put back on the line cannot hold 175 DFW CA because one is 1 number senior to me and the other is about 200 numbers junior to me. And I had no shot at holding DFW 175. Also, the 4 guys going back to the line will have a 2 year seat lock so hopefully they aren’t flowing within the next year. They will run back to the training center this fall when they start rehiring instructors again after a few vancacy bids have run.

Nothing in terms of contractual protections. The difference is in who is selected. So if ten Dfw 145 were to get displaced. Then they would look for volunteers in seniority order. A proffer to displace is a volunteer. Then they would go in reserve seniority to kick out the rest.

I’m the most junior instructor displaced. I couldn’t hold the 175 so I thought I would be going to LGA. After this bid, however, it looks like I can hold DFW which is great since I live there. I was told by my boss the training center was not planning on hiring for the next 6 months at least. I followed up that statement with a question as to whether the displacement was more permanent than we were led to believe. The answer was yes. So, they’ve replaced 15 of us with PSIs. This wasn’t about needing captains on the line. Unfortunately, the quality of training for all of us will be vastly different going forward.
