Better to rely on a bucket full of experience than a cup full of luck. Know one in the company likes where this is heading (except management) including some check airmen that I have spoken with.

There’s a lot more to respond to but I’ll let it go at that.
Pluhhze.....

First no one said millennials but you. If Delta needed FOs to upgrade to preserve their business they’d do the same thing Envoy is doing. I’ll enjoy LGA and I’ll leave as soon as I can because that’s the job. Just like if they shut down a base, get rid of aircraft, or furlough its part of being an airline pilot. A job that is way better and easier than any other I’ve ever had. There are perks and drawbacks. Envoy is in the airline business not the providing you airplanes to fly at your chosen location business. The faster some of you accept that the less heartburn you’re going to have and the less you’ll ***** about “bad faith”. Corporations aren’t people, they’re remorseless entities that only exist to make money, as are the people that run them.

Did you have experience as a captain the first time you signed the book? No. Don’t bull**** me, you can have all the right seat time in the world but it all changes once it’s your ass on the line. Everybody’s first time is their first time, you can only hope that the training is good enough. Have you ever shut down an engine, had a fire, or a any emergency? Do you expect that if you’ve never had these you’d be unable to handle it or would you ball it up because it’d never happened to you before?
Experience is good but you can’t get it second hand. That’s why we train.

There IS a lot to learn about operating in the 121 world. Some will be ready for it, some will not. The more right seat time you have in the operation, the better prepared you will be. No matter what, you will still see and experience things never seen before when you get to the left seat. As long as we are prudent and safe while figuring a few things out along the way, let it ride. However, some will not succeed and that is the nature of the game

Money and quality of life is the difference with Delta and Envoy. Delta WILL find Captains if they don’t have enough

I guarantee if we had endeavor or better rates that suddenly all these 800-950 hour FO's would all be claiming they're ready to upgrade. Not belittling them at all, I can't blame them, why increase responsibility with peanuts increase in pay? I agree.... but if the company were to raise payrates, they might find themselves out of this predicament they're in. But glad to see they didn't head this problem off before the summer schedules.

You chicken littles act like these guys walk in off the street and into the left seat having never flown before. It’s preposterous.
We have already seen an uptick in new captains making mistakes due to inexperience. Please don’t take my word for it, talk to the guys on the safety council. The FAA is also concerned about the rapid decline in experience at the regional level and wants closer scrutiny over standards. But your not concerned.... kick the tires, light the fires and clear the wires, right! Lol

This “you must be a joy to fly with on the line” **** is getting old. We operate in an industry that involves heavy machinery moving at insane speeds. Never forget that. Schedules, pay, bases means nothing if you’re dead. When guys lay the law down about doing things right or cracking the whip, it is a function of needing to do things to comply with laws of physics or regulatory burdens. Either way, I want it done right in my cockpit so I can get home to see the wife and kids and so I don’t have to dance in front of the Chief Pilot or Feds. I paid alot for my certificates and don’t want to lose them and the ability to generate income from them. I do everything I can to be pleasant and fun to fly with but make no mistake, we will always strive for perfection in my cockpit. I guarantee I will never achieve it but will ALWAYS strive to do it right!

I flew with someone that put in zero crosswind correction. We landed in the right half of the runway. 30 degree crosswind blowing 17-24. They had 3 seconds to put it down or I was calling for a go around. I was appalled this was happening in the 121 world. So yes they do fall through the cracks.

Then why doesn’t the company release the mistakes so other can learn from them. Keep it anonymous but make it a teaching moment
