Have you even looked at the reserve list lately? Have you seen how many FO’s are in training that are senior to half the currant rsv list are either in uograde training or will be awarded ca status next bid?

What you’re saying doesn’t hold water.

I haven’t looked at the New York reserve list… That’s why am asking the question. It seems that apparently there are enough senior people bidding out of New York thereby enabling new captains stuck in New York to bid a line fairly quickly. I’m just looking for confirmation of that being a realistic scenario. I’m currently willing to buy the story that there are enough captains with preference bids to leave New York that this could be possible.

You'll have this perpetual cycle of everytime a bid comes around, the more senior guys in LGA will get their backfill or displacement into their base of choice, then new captains coming out of training that were displaced to LGA will keep coming in above those HVA guys. And keep in mind that in the unlikely event an HVA guy does get whatever base they wanted, they'll most likely get displaced back to LGA after another displacement bid because of someone senior to them displacing them.

No, it’s very unlikely that a HVA will hold a line anytime soon. A lot of the mid-late 2016 new hires are now hitting CA minimum hours for upgrade.

Simply look at the LGA reserve list and the flow plan, even with projected expansion of lines in LGA you’re being disingenuous at best alluding to the fact that a new hire today will hold a line at LGA in a short period. Best case is someone hired mid-late 2017 MAY bounce on and off holding a line from month to month as the 2016 hires hit their CA mins. Just for reference, a late 2016 new hire will be sitting middle of the reserve list at LGA as is currently stands right now.

I’ll be gladly proven wrong, but I don’t think I’m too far off looking at the numbers and the flow plan.

Default New hire considering Envoy?

Most junior CA line holder next month in LGA is around the low 1000 seniority number.

We have 76 lines and by may according to the flow plan we have 180 captains...

I’m not an HVA, however I was a forced upgrade and by may I will have over 50 guys below me. If they don’t quit. A good amount of guys have already resigned.. look at the seniority list.

Whisky, sometimes you say things that make me think you’re management. Sometimes you say things that make me think you’ve simply never been a pilot at an airline. This is one of those because it seems like you don’t understand how seniority works.

You need someone JUNIOR to you to move into your base and seat for you to move up the seniority list to hold a line. For an HVA, you will be a junior CA, likely in LGA. The ONLY junior CA to you for about two years will be other HVAs hired after you. The massive amount of FOs hired the previous 2 years are just now starting to meet their qualifications and when they upgrade to captain, they will be senior to every HVA CA because they were hired first. These upgrade FOs hired the last two years that are upgrading to CA are going to replace the guys vacancy bidding out of LGA so, for an HVA CA, the guys vacacny bidding out of LGA are irrelevant.

Now, if you’re talking about an FO with zero qualifiying time hired today, then yeah, the outlook isn’t nearly as bad. I also wonder if you’re mixing info you’re hearing about the FO experience vs the CA experence.

For one the Endeavor ship has about sailed for the year. Someone who applied today will be lucky to start class by the end of the year.
