Anyone know about the AA cadet program? I heard that AA was trying it out. Hire flight instructors and pair them with a flight school American Fliers then a short stop at Envoy before going over to AA. From what I heard it's only been offered to current AA employees, their kids, or close connections.

After DOS flow
We don’t talk about this agreement often on the forums here, but it’s important new hires understand it... because it’s the agreement they will be held to.
Could someone explain the “after DOS flow” agreement in layman's terms...?
...It has words like “lesser of”
25% of new hire trading slots
But then it says something about 5 a month. Just simply makes no definite sense to me. Looks like it’s written in a way that management will be able to tweak it around in their favor to withhold more pilots...
The union estimates 17pilots flowing a month once we get to this agreement... where do they get that number?

The figure is based on how many pilots we have on the list. The original 17/month was based on our size when we were much smaller. In a perfect world, we've grown so we should send more than 17. So the language lays out how many flows will be sent for the year. So it's the lower number of the following 2 figures: 1.) 25% off AA's total hiring for the year, or 2.) 5 slots (increased by 1 for every 125 pilots above the base number of 480 pilots on the seniority list) and you multiply that by 12 months.
So let's break it down. Start with 5. Then we have to figure out how many pilots above the base number of 480 we're at. We've got 2,376 according to the latest ALPA list. So 2,376-480 equals 1,887 above the base number of 480. Divide that by 125 to come up with how much is 125 above that base number and that gives you 15. So take that fifteen, add it to the original 5 pilots we started out with and that gives you 20. Multiply that by 12 months. That's 240 pilots for the year or 20/month.
But remember, it's the lesser of 240 or 25% of the entire hiring at AA for the year. So AA would have to hire 960 total pilots for the year to see 20/month. That's a lot. Their original target for this year was 900 and they're already behind.

Currently APC shows 2400 pilots. So 2400 - 480 = 1920. 1920/125 = 15. Add to the base of 5 equals about 20 per month. (Or a maximum of 25% of AA hires in any given month, whichever is LESS.)
Right now 20 per month is about 25% of the planned hires for most months this year. Hiring should increase a bit as AA hits peak retirements. Considering bobbles and upsets and typically no one hired in Dec. the 17 average per month is a pretty good number.
