Anyone know about the AA cadet program? I heard that AA was trying it out. Hire flight instructors and pair them with a flight school American Fliers then a short stop at Envoy before going over to AA. From what I heard it's only been offered to current AA employees, their kids, or close connections.
AA is trying to start an ab initio program, eventually petitioning the FAA for further reduced ATP mins for it's "graduates" and cutting in line.
EDIT: won't be american flyers for what I have heard.

Currently, the Protected Pilots are flowing at 25 per month, with a maximum of 50% of the total AA hires.
In between the Protected Pilots and DOS is a group to flow at 15 per month, with a maximum of 35% of the total AA hires.
As stated above, after DOS the flow would be 20 per month, with a maximum of 25% of the total AA hires.
I am wondering if contract negotiations would increase both the 15 and the 20 per month to the current 25 per month? I know the other WOs are negotiating increases in their flows. Thoughts? Speculation?

In the next few years, as retirements ramp up and stay there, if the regional model states the same, 20-25% per year will be the average hire rate out of the regionals, as a whole.
What do you think will happen to the flow at Envoy? Increase, go away, become irrelevant, just a hip pocket for those that cannot get hired outside of the flow?
Put yourself in AAs shoes. Why did they set up flows in the first place? Will it continue to serve their purposes? What will they want to do to adjust for this radical change?

At 20 per month with current staffing, that means flow will be 10% per year.

1) The flow will be irrelevant in the coming years.
2) The company has already shown ill will when dealing with the flow as it currently stands due to ‘operational necessity’, so why bother trying to increase something that’s already proven to always be metered (for lack of a better term) to the lowest possible.
3) May as well concentrate on having a better experience while spending your time here at Envoy in the meantime.

Currently the hiring model for AA is hiring mostly flows from the WOs and military. Very few OTS.
Do you see this changing? Will they ramp up OTS to a significant (maybe a majority) of hires, whether from WOs or other regionals? If they do not increase the flows per month, that is how the numbers shake out.
Will that make it significantly less attractive for the WOs to attract new hires?

If I was AA I would rather hire from outside the WO’s as to not negatively impact the business. Delta, UA and Southwest will be stealing massive amounts of Envoy Pilots from American. When the hiring crunch starts to hit hard in the next few years, AA will be looking hard to get as many of Delta and UA regional pilots as possible to stop the bleeding(my opinion). They will keep Envoy flow at min possible to stop the bleeding. Supply/demand will force pay up at Envoy and flow time will still drop significantly due to attrition to other carriers. All this is just my opinion obviously.
As for supply/demand envoy is having no problems filling classes therefore no need to raise pay anytime soon unfortunately.
