Keeps you flying. CS will keep adding any open flying to pilots on the turnback list before adding to RSV pilots not on the turnback list. It also prevents flying from being appropriated.

Check the N3D to see what's been assigned.

Our communications director sent this out. AF.

Also, just because the hotel desk says something doesn't make it true. I can't tell you how many times I had to train CS to do something contractual. I was told no repeatedly when reserve appropriation got changed to premium pay. Also, just wait till you hear what you all you have to do when OSO hits that Cs just makes up. The union is a valuable source to navigate the contract. If you run into any situation like his then your rep should be contacted.

You may have a point that there is a difference in what the union says and what the company says. But I think it's pretty clear if you lose an overnight then you are protected under all circumstances. If not then it should be grieved. There is a difference between losing and giving up one by trading using vacation or calling out sick.

No experience on the turn back list but I have heard a few guys complaining about not getting turned back.

Essentially it could help a commuter reserve pilot get more overnights.

I would put myself on the turnback list nearly every reserve stretch. In about a year and a half on reserve I went over my commuter hotels maybe three months, so it is very helpful for commuters. Like anything else though, it all depends on how much open time is available whether or not it’s effective.
