Absolutely correct. Be in position within the RAP call out window. If you want to play ganes it’s your risk and accept the repercussions that come with them...if on probation that could mean termination.

I have had several FOs tell me CS proactively called them and tell them they can stay home. So yeah it can happen.

That has to be part of some crew scheduling scam. I just can’t figure it out

You can’t trust CS

I like the schedulers by and large.

You are a new guy! Once you get burned by them you will have a different opinion. Lately they have been fine. Most are actually nice but when push comes to shove they have to fill seats and the contract gets thrown out the window. It's nothing personal it's just how it works.

You’re right, I am new. But I have had them stick it in my ribs and twist, blowing up my chances to commute after I saved them from what I strongly suspect was their own monumental incompetence and still generally like them. They’ve thrown me bones w/ early releases, better hotels, rebooking Limos and stuff like that.

I have come to an apathetic point of view towards CS. I just live by one simple rule - be nice and occasionally funny. That seems to get me what I want most often. I think the trick is to know how CS operates and live within those "reasonable" standards. S3 guys calling to get released before the last flight is off the ground just annoys CS. Calling and asking to be released when the last flight is off is more acceptable. Reasonable is a term that has two meanings. The pilot vs CS definition is drastically different. Figure it out and you won't be as frustrated.
