How does the appropriation process work? There was a 3 day open for tomorrow, finishing on the 1st. During the 48 hour window, I put in for the turn that finished that sequence as OT. It was open, was on the pick up OT list on QT, it worked perfectly with my sign in on the 1st, so I submitted it. So surprise surprise, they assigned the proffer trips to reserves today, so that sequence got assigned, then since the 48 hour window closed today, they processed those requests and I got a denied because it was already a crewed flight HI6. But it's just on the reserve guys sequence. So 1) is it a dick move to appropriate this? Or do most reserve guys appreciate it? 2) is it as simple as calling up scheduling and telling them and then it's done?
I don't know if it's a dick move. They are protected on hotels and most of them will enjoy not having to do it. If it's a new guy that needs consolidation then oh well. Get the OT

CS has been doing this a lot lately. Glad you caught it! Glad you caught it early! File a grievance if they don’t fix it. Seriously. It’s been happening.
Little tit for tat move like this by-CS is why we have a wedge of trust & negativity between our pilots & CS many time over. LineUpAndPay call the union they’ll have your back & get you answers.
If the Rsv guy on his last day whom they gave the OT trip you submitted for (is NOT on consolidation) then I strongly believe it was not a mistake and the same CS is doing this more often. I’ve been hearing stories about your exact issue going on. Contact the Union anyways.
Folks be attentive to your request and denials. If denied RESEARCH why. Start getting into the contract on your free time on RAP/Standby. Contact your rep (new FOs & especially new CA’s to ENY) with questions.

"Contract Compliance Committee - Reserve
The Contract Compliance Committee wants to be abundantly clear on what is and isn't required of you while sitting RAP as a reservist.
First the not so obvious. There is no contractual requirement that you be in domicile (at the airport at which you are based) when sitting on a Reserve Availability Period. You are required to return a phone call, within 15 minutes per Section 12.C.3. This phone call in turn must comply with the requirements set forth by Section 29.R, which states:
When contacting a pilot, Crew Scheduling must include the reason for the call and any assignment, to include the sign in time and duration of the sequence, when leaving a voice message for a pilot. Example: Crew Scheduling is calling to notify a reserve for a three-day trip assignment that signs in at 9am, or a change in sign-in time, or a cancelation of a flight, or an involuntary junior man overnight trip that signs in a 4 pm.
So long as scheduling's message complies with Section 29.R, you are subject to receiving a missed assignment should you fail to comply with the 15-minute call back window, or report time applicable to your domicile.
Again, there is no contractual or FM1 requirement that you live in domicile. Additionally, neither the contract nor FM1 specify what mode of transportation is utilized to satisfy the 2-hour (or 3-hour) callout. Should you choose to sit in Boston airport at Legal Seafood for any one of the 30 daily flights to NY, as long as you make the callout time, there is absolutely no basis for management concern, nor is there any.
As an additional note, if you are released for the day at noon, and receive a phone call to confirm your next day proffer or assignment at 8pm, you are not required to answer that phone or return their call. Once you are released that is your time off, and your time to rest. It belongs to you to do with what you please.
That said, please be cognizant of your CBA and its requirements."

LOL.... If you want to stay home and not commute in on your day off then call CS and say hey look theres 20 pilots on reserve that you have to call before you get to me. Can I just stay home tomorrow and not commute in? If they say yes then you are good to go.... if they say no then get to base.

LOL will this ever happen though? They’ll laugh at you and say we need you just in case. Correct me if wrong...otherwise don't play with your job. It’s just not worth it
