Idk about being fat on pilots. Seems to be the complete opposite every time I log in to FLICA and look at the reserve grid. This time of the year flying slows down. That'll change with spring break and also when the summer hits.
I may be new to 121, but in the 135/91k world this is also a slow time of the year. Give it a month or two and I'll bet the ops tempo will seem more familiar... |
This is straight from the RGS schoolhouse:
First 2 of the 14 CRJ-200 deliveries for 2017 start next week. Goal to have pay wrapped up by May 1 so the last retention bonus will be May 20. 70 pilots scheduled to start in Jan and 60 in Feb. Don't shoot the delivery man but great news! |

CTP coming up at CAE. Any thoughts on the value or knowledge gained from the course? New to 121, but I've heard mixed reviews from peers at other regionals on the CTP as a whole. Would it be worth doing the pre study material CAE provides or would I be better served studying for the ATP written itself.
Thanks |

Well I'm not sure if I'd make such a bold statement? Word on the street is that Delta isn't very happy with Compass right now. Their performance metrics are in the toilet. Compass blames it on MX issues caused from their aging aircraft and the LA market in general as being a tough market to attain good performance metrics. I don't know whether or not their performance metrics are bad enough to break their contract or not? But sooner or later that contract will need to be renegotiated. If things don't change I don't think they will extend it. But what do I know, I didn't think Delta would extend the GoJet flying either. I'm not saying Endeavor would get any of the Compass 175's either. In fact Delta seems very happy with SkyWest's west coast operations.

Anyone heard when the EFB LMS will come out? I see the Jan stuff if out, but nothing on the EFB thus far.

BS. You do not know what you are talking about. I've worked for airlines that weren't run well. This is not one of them. This industry has a lot of variables that are constantly changing, and our company deals with that very well.
As for small percentage going to Delta, again, you are talking out of your A$$. 60% success rate. How many people from the original 3 were going to Delta prior to the SSP? How many of those who went in and interviewed had their phones ringing with calls from Delta HR prior to the SSP, or even after for those who also applied off the street? How about UAL or AA? VERY few people were (are) being called off the street. Suddenly we all had the opportunity to go in and interview without the normal vetting process that Delta uses. 60% of those who gave it a shot got a job, including a lot who didn't have a four year degree like everyone who is coming in off the street to a Delta interview. That's pretty damn great and proves that the people who spout crap like you just did are just ****ed because they didn't get it. Look, I get it. It sucks to be told no. I'm not going to Delta either. It doesn't mean that everyone else in the world is to blame. They wouldn't have been calling me off the streets. I'm not there because of me, and all my friends who are moving on to Delta are proof of that. For everyone outside the company: If you are considering coming to 9E, know that you better be OK with going to NY. Right now that's where people are headed, may as well assume that if you live in MSP you'll never get it and be pleasantly surprised if it ever happens. Most people here are great to fly with. Management and training want you to succeed and will support you in doing so. You will be paid well to fly well maintained aircraft and stay in (for the most part) good hotels. You won't be asked to do anything unsafe, and will be given the tools to do your job well. Upgrade should be fairly quick as well as long as things continue to move as they have been. Give it a couple years and you'll get a guaranteed interview at Delta, while you wait you can have applications in at all the majors (including Delta) so maybe you'll get to move on sooner. I'm proud to be an Endeavor pilot. I like my company. They treat me well, pay me well, and I've flown in both seats with some of the best pilots I could hope to meet. Our new hires are sharp, most are really looking for ways to improve and are bringing great experience from other carriers with them. I'm sure that my outlook would be different if I lived in MSP or DTW, but fortunately I don't and am close to NY. That makes life much easier for me since I can be a line holder as a CA in NY where I would be on reserve as a CA in the other bases or line holder as an FO. The lesson to be learned from that is the common advice to go someplace you can drive to work or have an easy commute from is good advice. I'd say this is pretty accurate... And yes the outlook of those of us living in MSP and DTW are markedly less optimistic lately for obvious reasons. |
